When "scale size" doesn't look right

My recent visit from my good modeler friend Michael Rose reminded me of issues concerning scale - and when sometime the correct scale doesn't look correct.  Michael had commented on my trees being too small in relationship to my loco.  He nailed it when he noted that I had my trees small at the back of the layout to help with the transition between the actual scenery and the backdrop picture.

Using a photo and giving credit

Greetings all,

I have a digital copy of a photo that I'd like to use for a blog posting. The photo was given to me by an employee of the company in the picture, however, the company didn't commision the picture. How can I properly use the picture to share with this community?

Thanks in advance for your reply!

Cars restricted from interchange

I'm not having much luck finding information on stenciling for cars that are restricted from interchange. I recall something like an R or "not leaving the home road" stenciling on the car sides, usually near the numbers.

Does anyone have any good examples of this lettering? Thanks.

Looking for pre-World War II tanks

I;m working in the late 1920's, and would love to have some military behicles on a flat car--but everything in HO that I've found is of a later vintage.  Has anyone seen anything that could be used in 1920's USA in the way of military macheinery?

Homemade Paint Shaker

I made a paint shaker out of a 50 year old saw that a guy gave to me.

Here's a short video of how I did it and how it works.
