Modeling general discussion

Weekly Photo Fun - April 10th to April 16th, 2015
It's Friday! Time for another Weekly Photo Fun thread.
As other initiators of this thread remind us, the in-progress photos are as much fun to see as those of completed scenes. I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone's been up to this week.
Hey Guys!
Hey Guys! My name is Caleb, i'm from Central Indiana. I currently don't have a layout but am collecting for my future model railroad, Indy Rail.

Teen Association of Model Railroaders Facebook page is dead?
The TAMR Facebook page seems dead:
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Teen-Association-of-Model-Railroaders/244...
What could be done to revive it - or should it be revived?
The old http://tamr.org website URL also is no longer functioning.
Maybe rather than do some age-specific site, we do something like host a TAMR-like hangout here? Encourage some of our teens to start something on here?
Or is there something that would appeal better to teens than Facebook or a website at tamr.org?
What do you think?

My new camcorder - AND my 1st video around the layout!
***UPDATE*** Thanks to Rob in Texas for his idea to try a video by putting my camcorder on a flat car and taking it around the layout. You can see the video later in this thread.
Ten years ago the Mrs. and I went on an Alaskan cruise to celebrate our wedding anniversary. At that time I was able to convince her that I needed to replace my old Sony(tm) DV camcorder with a new mini DV Canon(tm) unit so that we could capture our trip to later share our memories.
Fast forward ten years...................
Solvent based paint for structures and weathering.
I've used the search function but it seems that most discussions of paint results in a comparison of solvent to water based paints with a large dose of warnings on the safety issues involved with solvents. That's fine and appropriate but I'm looking for solvent paints still available that will be used for airbrushing structures and general weathering use. Railroad specific colors are not needed as I'm not painting locomotives or rolling stock other than patching jobs. The perfect railroad XYZ color is not my focus. Browns, blacks, whites, grays, tans etc.

New workbench
Hi everyone
I recently built myself a new workbench for doing all my model railroad related construction. In the process of building it I filmed myself and put together a short How-To video on the whole process.
You can use just about any flat tabletop surface for model railroading but I wanted something that was a little wider and deeper than your average table and something that was cheap so if I damage it then it's no big loss!

Looking for HO freight car wheel suggestions
I'm looking for suggestions of well-detailed and proportioned (front & back) HO freight car wheels (typical from the 60-80s). I need the wheel only so they need to either be sold that way or be removable from the axle. Thanks for the help.

Council Bluffs, IA
I'm going to be in Council Bluffs, Iowa for a few days. Does anyone know of any hobby stores around or things to do? Is there anything close to the Mid America Canter?
Thanks.

Faller Expert Cement
I've been reading about Faller Expert Cement for a number of years from Bruce Petrarca and several other folks. I decided to give it a try and ordered a bottle. Trouble is, I can't figure how to get the darn bottle to flow. I figured there was probably a seal inside the cap that must be removed, but I can't get the cap off. Even with pliers, it feels like I'm on the verge of destroying the bottle, but that cap won't budge!
So how does one get this stuff to start flowing?
A Canadian version of the Miniaturwunderland
Hello Everybody,
In Oakville, Ontario is a group of people building a miniature version of southern Ontario. I like their spirit, drive and will certainly am looking forward to visiting.
Enjoy
