Master mold to make resin castings for TT scale track
I just finished making a master part for making a rubber mold to cast TT scale track section for Code55 rail. I made a video of the milling process.
After getting new CAM software I redesigned the track section in DraftSight CAD program, set up the G-code in BamCam and then ran it in the Sherline CNC mill. These are the steps in the milling process.

Near Water disaster
My wife just went down to the basement to put in some laundry. She called me down to show me that there was water dripping from the furnace duct. Not much had come down, but it was directly above my stash of model train stuff. I investigated and found it wasn't the first time. My collection of Model Railroad Planning books were dry but moldy, obviously water damaged. Luckily, my collection of Great Model Railroads was untouched. Further investigation upstairs showed where the water cooler has been leaking, today much worse than the past.
Is P:48 worth it?
My modest modern fleet consists mostly of Atlas 2R equipment and I have a few modules completed. It is now time to decide, before the layout is built, continue in 5 ft gauge or switch to P:48.

Shapeways and multiple objects
I've got a fence post I designed in Sketchup. I've printed with Shapeways before but larger items. The fence post is small and is too small and doesn't fill the bounding box. What is the best way to get more? I can copy and paste of a row of posts but what is the best way to connect them together? That I've never done before. Any tips? Thanks.

Another Tip learned along the way to share..............
Don't know about you guys, but I'm forever setting stuff down on the layout under construction and then not being able to find it. See 1st 2 pictures.
The item I kept not finding was my NMRA gauge.

New Raspberry Pi Announced
Probably many of you are aware if you have interest in them, but the new Raspberry Pi has just been announced and is said to have about 6 times more power than the previous iteration. I haven't got into these yet, but one day, I'm sure I will. Thought it might be of interest to some here that weren't aware...

Need assistance in understanding how an electomagnet functions
I am using a standard exterior solid wood door as a swing gate for the three decks that cross over the entrance to the layout room. This was the only practical solution as the stairs to the basement are perpendicular to the north basement wall. I will have two homemade slide-bolts made out of 1/2" round steel that will have a taper on one end that will, when in the locked position, keep the door closed and the track in alignment. I have a steel plate on the edge of the door so there will be no room for the door to move. The taper is to allow for a slight misalig

Super elevated curve over bridge?
Hey guys,
I'm planning a new modular layout and one of the things I wanted to include was a super elevated curve that leads around to the staging behind the layout, I also wanted to build a curved trestle bridge on the curve that leads to the staging yard.

The curse of dust.
Yes, we've all had it happen. Running trains day-in and day-out, then one day maybe months or years down the road you suddenly notice- Hey, that heavyweight passenger (black-topped) car has dust all over it! You may even notice it on top of a coal load, either in a tender or a hopper load. And that's just the dust you can see. Try a light grey Rock Island hopper...
Well, I can pull out Big Red with a small brush attachment (re: ShopVac with small brush attachment) or use...
what????
