Modeling general discussion

H O Window curtains and blinds

Hello People,

Would anybody who has the problem of finding a proper web site to print off some window dressings, please pass on the answer to me.

I have tried in vain to see what I'm about to buy but the web sites won't show me or they no longer exist. I've checked out the known makers of same but I find that they either don't have the particular images, won't ship to Canada or they are very dear in cost (I'm closer to nickel than bark to a tree ).

I would really appreciate your help. Thanx Steve Klein

References for Beginners

I've been asked to provide links to websites that would be useful to a new-comer to the model railroad hobby.  The individual is thinking about building a small layout, perhaps 4'x6', as a start.  Any suggestions for suitable websites would be appreciated.

I've already started the list with the MRH website . . . let's go beyond that.  Thanks!

Odd Responses to Posts

I have noticed a very odd trend here and in many other forms of online forums.

Poster asks a specific and direct technical question = very little response

Poster asks a vague question with more of an opinion base = al lot of response, and lot of argument.

Interesting phenomenon in the internet age.

What do I take from this. .. If you have a technical question about modeling insert something subjective.

It's another week . . . post 'em if you got 'em.  There were a few late-comers in last week's post.  Check them out, then come back here afterward.

Straining paint prior to airbrushing......

We’ve all done it, added paint to the airbrush w/o straining it when in a hurry and needing only tiny bit, right?  The result very often leads to a clogged airbrush and there goes all that time you saved by not straining the paint!

So, how do you strain it?

Bachmann sound modules

Will a Bachmann  On30  0-6-0 sound module plug into a Bachmann On30 Heisler being the Heisler sound module is no longer available. Easier than replacing the decoder. Thanks

Clickbate topic titles at MRH forums

Lets face it.  We internet users are bombarded constantly with Click Bate.

What is click bate?

Clickbait is a sensationalized headline that encourages you to click a link to an article, image, or video. Instead of presenting objective facts, clickbait headlines often appeal to your emotions and curiosity.

Why is Clickbait bad?

"Why is it that"..............................?

Let’s have some fun.  Post your own "Why is it that..............?" to share the laughs..........

Why is it that........

-acrylic paint never seems to stick well on brass locomotives but I need to use acetone to get it off my shiny chrome airbrush?

-you crawl under your layout to make some adjustments and the tool you need is sitting on just out of reach on top?

-you can never find your NMRA clearance gauge when you need it now!?
