Modeling general discussion
Thankful
Happy Thanksgiving!
Thank you everyone for being here and making this lone wolf feel part of a larger community of like-minded individuals.
Thank you for being polite when my occasional rants are so opinionated that a contrary POV seems pointless.
Thank you for differing point of view and posting your modeling, your techniques, and your inspiring works.
Thank you for the friends made here and hope that we may meet in person one day.
Heisenberg's (Model Railroading) uncertainly principle
Let me lay some profound metaphysics on you on this thanksgiving eve.
In a system with input 1: 3 young children 2: a frazzled 42 year old dad with an overfilled garage and 3: a list of some large number N model railroading projects that require just 1 more thing to complete where that thing is somewhere in said garage, the following principle is true:
It is impossible to have time to work on a given project without a toddler under foot and also find the needed part in the garage at the same time.
SOO Line F Units
To All: Two SOO LINE F Units I detailed, painted, weathered and dull coated. They are the old Bachmann. I used rrpicturearchives.net for photos to do these units. Photo by Elvin Howland. Yours, Elvin Howland/E. St. Louis Rail Group Layout.

Scales of narrow guage trains
Could someone give me a quick refresher course on these 'narrow gauge' designations? I get confused sometimes.
I see mentioned HOn3, HOn30, On30. On3.....etc

Time for a new WPF! I hope you'll all show us what you've been up to, completed or in-progress.

Recommended airbrush how-to video for beginners?
Hi All:
I'm looking for a link to a good and thorough how-to video for using an airbrush. This would be a soup-to-nuts, set-up; use; clean-up video.
Shameless self-promotion is encouraged.
Thanks! I'm using an Iwata-Medea Eclipse HP CS Dual-Action Gravity Feed (below).

Who sells on Ebay anymore?
I've never sold on Ebay. But I have a few items I no longer need and thought that would be a good place to sell them. Then I read all their crazy fees just to list and how much they take off the top. No thanks. Just seems like I'd be selling a few things for no more than $10-25 each and ebay would then take a significant cut. Maybe it works for items that would demand more money - but for general used items - doesn't seem to make much sense.
Anyone care to share experiences selling their used stuff on ebay lately?
Looking to modify truck center on Athearn bluebox frame.
Hello, new to these forums and look forward to all the information in here. I have been tossing around the idea of an Amtrak GP40TC which use an SD38/40/45 frame but on 4 axle trucks. I was wondering if anyone has ever modified the frame length or changed the truck center on old athearn blue box frames? Seems like something that would be able to be cut and graphed together.
CLUB LAYOUT POSTING
I know there are a lot of club layouts out and about. In the summer I happen to be in New England where my house is. In the winter I like to get in the motor home and head south to “no shovelin’ “ country. I’ve heard Rob from Texas say he wants me to see a long coal train run and I’ll bet the gentleman from Jackson, Mississippi might let me in to see his club layout too. I’ll bet there are other club layouts that would welcome a stranger (model railfan) needing a model railroad fix.

Model-sized train that isn't a scale model and used to really haul stuff?
I bought an LGB starter set in Europe when I was 18, and slowly collected a lot of G scale US stuff with the long term goal of building a layout. That never came to pass due to lack of the needed space or money (as everything in G scale seems to cost a fortune) and I sold it all several years ago.
