Too Stressed To Enjoy MRR[?]

It's been a while since the days when I used to post regularly on here, but a few of you might remember me. The last topic I posted on, in early 2013, was about having completed the primary infrastructure [benchwork, trackwork & wiring] of my freelanced version of the B&O in the Cleveland area, after taking the chainsaw to my previous layout a few years earlier.

Suggestions on a starter kit

I am considering getting into building a railroad kit and am interested in being able to control. I am not looking at bigness or grandeur but want to be able to control. I was advised to consider smaller scale N gauge with a DCC starter kit. Is it possible to get started at less than 200$? Links to where I can buy appreciated.

Pacific Coast Air Line Railway in 55n3

Resurrected the benchwork from the old On30 layout. Splotched some clouds onto the backdrop to cover the defects. Tired of sanding and still not being able to get the paint to match in those areas.

Got a good deal on the package of HO Kato Unitrack for the for the Model Railroader's  Black River Junction layout about four years ago.

Found that the track can be painted to look like narrow gauge track.

Is the new magazine out yet?

All I am able to download from the new magazine is the welcome aboard page. Is the issue out yet or are there delays at this time. I thought the last expected date I am aware of was yesterday, and I can not find it anywhere. When I go to the link page it just downloads the welcome aboard page. I am on a MAC and using fire fox as a browser.

**New ProtoThrottles at Trainfest!**

THANK YOU to everyone who purchased ProtoThrottles from our initial run of 250 this past summer. We sold out that run and were very encouraged by the support and enthusiasm for the throttle.

Selling home with Model Railroad

This 3/2 1850 SF residence is located in SW Florida.  The 14 x 20 HO railroad is almost finished (are any layouts ever totally finished?)  Located in the family room (Yes, I am a lucky guy!), it has been quietly constructed and detailed over the last 12+ years.  My hope is to find a person who wants to live away from snow, loves boating (we have a walk around dock with a 13,500 lb lift), and either wants a fully operational railroad or would salvage it to get a jump start on their own creation.  If you are interested, I will forward a picture package of the railroad and

NMRA printed calendar for 2019? Anyone seen one yet?

I'm curious, I submitted some photos for the NMRA printed calendar for 2019 but never heard anything back either way.
I'd have thought that by now, it would have been printed and sent out, but the newest magazine arrived yesterday and no mention of it at all.
Has anyone seen it or heard anything about it? I know in the past I've submitted stuff and then found out through a friend that it'd bene printed and I never heard from the publisher originally.

Why ask for opinions or advice if you are not going to listen?

Is it just me or is there a new and growing tendency on forums (this one and others) for folks to post something extensibly to ask for advice or opinions and then for the topic to basically turn into the OP defending his/her original idea to the death ignore or finding fault with ever single person that comments in anything other then a positive manor.

Hi-Tech Ballast Spreader?

This was in an e-mail I rec'd from the Kalmbach Hobby Store.  First time I've seen a spreader that had as many bells and whistles as this one.  Way more than just a cylinder with an opening. Has anyone used this before or seen one used?  The text for it states it can be pulled with a loco - if so, and it works like the picture, man -o-man- the hobby is getting more and more prototypical every day!
