Modeling general discussion

Proto:48 - Why does it mean more than accurate trackwork and wheels?

I appreciated the recent article on super detailing a freight car.

But why has Proto:48 been associated with the super detailing of equipment?

Was it not meant to focus on accurate prototypical trackwork and wheel appearance?

Was the association of Proto:48 to super detailed equipment the original intention?

Does Proto:87 have the same association?

The freight car could have easily had standard wheels and still would have been a great looking model.

RPM Railroad Prototype Modelers - calling on N scale

I really enjoy looking through posts, watching videws, etc from RPMs.  It is amazing what people are doing.  Now I fully understand HO modelers are the majority in the hobby, and this post is not about that. With that said I understand the % of models you see at RPMs are going to be HO.. So not to take away from that, but to add onto it. Does anybody here participate in RPMs with N scale models.

If so tells us about what you model, and as always some pictures of your models.

Thanks

Is Running Extra a "superset" of the regular MRH monthly

Joe:

This question is for you and your staff.  I subscribed to Running Extra.   Is the the material in the regular MRH monthly included in this new format?

I ask for this reason, do I need to download two magazines per month from you or is getting Running Extra the all encompassing option?

How to make white lettering decals on transparent waterslip paper?

I understand how to make color decals on transparent waterslip pager but can't find how to make white decals.

I have an inkjet printer but it can't use white ink.  What are my options?

"What's on your Workbench" November 2018 Edtion

Ok, it's November, the days are getting shorter and colder. I'm sure many are turning to modeling something in the cooler days to come. Let us see what is on your workbench or table.

Edited: For our modeler friends in the southern hemisphere I guess your modeling will be slowing down. wink

To xboblove

Totally overrunning this site with a bazillion threads and posts is not okay.

You need to talk to us first before monopolizing our website.

You have been put on moderation and your threads are being unpublished pending a discussion with us first.

If you're using this site to do mass promotion that's advertising and it's not free, either.

Walthers kit -- need help

I bought an inexpensive Walthers Cornerstone kit many years ago: Dust Collector Accessory #933-3113.  There are 2 sprues with parts for 2 dust collectors, but there is no picture of the completed kit and no instructions, just the parts in a plastic bag. The kit isn't offered anymore so I can't get instructions from the website.

LED Lighting for the Layout

I am debating 2700K Warm White LED bulbs for my track lighting fixtures vs "Daylight" temperature bulbs.

The warm white gives a nice soft lighting to the layout but I do like the clarity that the daylight bulbs give off.

What says the group, daylight or warm white?   What are the photography implications of each?

Thanks for the informed debate and opinions.

Here is a photo of what it looks like today.
