Does anyone have experience with the Mantua/Model Power gp20 with sound?

Maximum slope for HO trains

Hi,

I have a twin tier layout and I need to join them together. The rise is 21 inches and I can get a 4 degree slope in but this would necessitate major change to the existing benchwork as the top layer is supported by angle iron brackets. The difficulty could be solved by a 5 or 6 degree slope but I want to know if this would work before I commit to the woodwork. I would appreciate your advice. Thanks.

DCC bus: to twist or not, and terminating capacitors?

When running a DCC power bus, what is the accepted wisdom on whether to put a twist in the bus wires or to just run them side by side? And how far apart should the two wires be? I seem to recall in the past seeing entries or articles talking about puttin gterminating capacitors at one or both ends of the bus (can't remember the details). Should I do this and why? Are there any other electrical hints that are worth knowing? Thanks.

Power pack

What is a good wattage power supply for a medium sized one man layout? I have seen up to 125 watts, is that too much? I will run a single engine switching layout. Thanks in advance. Mike H.

". . . got me where I am." Where are you?

I read in a message this morning these words: " . . . got me where I am." Those words put me to thinking. Where am I in the hobby. Where are you and everyone else in the hobby? Are you where you want to be? Have you accomplished your goals? Where are you and where do you see yourself as fitting in model railroading?

Animated / Lighted Signalman Figure

Somewhere in the past (and I believe it came from a old Model Railroader Magazine) I once saw an ad or an announcement for a signalman figure that had a swinging arm with a lighted lantern in his hand.? Does anyone else recall such a figure??

Can't recall the scale. It might have even been a Lionel product.

I can't find anything on such a figure even with google. Just wondering if my memory is playing tricks on me.

Wigwag Willie or something like that ??
