Richlawn RR - Progress video - from Start to March 2016

It occurred to me that it's not easy to understand a layout from the multiple postings on the forum.  That's not the fault of the forum, but just the "nature of the beast".  After watching other modeler's progress videos I thought that I'd produce one for my Richlawn Railroad.  The video is 12 minutes long and covers from the very beginning to March of this year.  I hope that you enjoy it!

Kwik-E-Mart

Hi guys,

I had this epiphany to build the Kwik-E-Mart from The Simpsons in 3D, in N scale. My tiny plastic guys need to get their donuts and magazines from somewhere don't they?

I had it 3D printed and made the file available for printing via Shapeways (as with most of my 3D designed stuff). I used a piece of plastic from an anti-static bag for the windows. I'll put one of my aircon units up on the roof with some vents.

Looking for a trackplan

I'm trying to find a layout that I'm sure I saw on here recently - It has a central track with a facing and trailing turnout leading to two spurs, and a warehouse on the top one at the left-hand end - it may have been a Freemo section and in either N or HO -  Can anyone point me to it please? TIA

How do you clean and oil your engines?

I hope you would share your thoughts and experience about how you clean and oil your engines.
Different views and methods are appreciated.

I think MRH columnist Bruce P did a very thoroughfare column in the january 2013 issue of MRH. He shows how he cleans the Kato NW2 and oils it. He literarily takes the engine apart, clean the gears in an ultrasonic cleaner and lubricates it with NanoOil and NewerStall.

What paperwork are you using for your layout?

What paperwork are you using for operation your layout?

on my layout, Car movement cards, sequence list, switch list, train orders with dtc and form G

Portable Spray Booths Questions??

I have been looking at the various portable spray booths that are listed on Ebay and in Micro Mark.  They look nice despite some of the reviews that they are underpowered.  I like the portability and could ocationaly take it to my RR club and use it there.

FALL Super Trees?

Has anyone created any Fall colored trees using Scenic Express Super Trees? My next layout will feature Fall scenery and I'm trying to make a decision on the trees. So far all the HO commercial Fall trees I've seen are......well......much less than acceptable. The Super Trees look great but I haven't seen anyone do them in Fall colors.

Thanks,

Roger Huber

Building a small bridge / jetty in wood from scratch

Hi! :)

I built a small bridge/jetty for my lake. I thought it could be a good starting point for others who haven´t started to build structures in wood yet. That´s why I made a video tutorial of the process. Hopefully it will inspire you to get started too. :)

Cheap Build

Several years ago, myself, Brian Banna, and a couple others came up with the "Cheap Build" concept. The concept was to build and detail a diesel for under $100.oo and still have it look nice. My first concept build was from a Rail Power Products SD-45 shell. I ended up spending $52.oo on this unit. We still do this every now and then at the Detailer. Here is a video of that build.
