New HO scale RS-1's from Atlas with Loksound
So these are supposed to be available in June? I am real tempted to buy a couple of the SP&S. It is the closest prototype to what I am modeling.
My question is about the turbine sound. I downloaded the manual from the ESU website but was unable to find anything about turning the volume of that specific sound down. All the sound samples I have listened to from ESU and other mfg's for the 539T make me want to rethink my choices. I just think the whining is too much. Sort of like the bells. After a very short time they can get annoying.
G E 70 ton locomotive
Does anyone make a G.E. 70 ton locomotive model, other than Bachmann?
Walthers Proto 2000 U23B
In the market for an HO U23B with DCC and Sound. Noticed Walther's is running a sale on theirs at a really good price. Plus, I like the fact Walther's uses a Tsunami sound decoder versus the Atlas U23B which use the QSI decoder. "Not a fan of the QSI decoders"
However, the sale price is such that I am a little suspicious of the quality given I have never purchased a Proto 2000 locomotive. Does anyone have any experience with Proto 2000 U23B/U30B models or Proto 2000 locomotives in general?

March - Progress slow but sure
March update, got all my orders for various needed scenery material, local hobby shop for the Woodland Scenics stuff, Eurorail in Canada for the small scenery stuff, Scenics express for the major stuff, Eurotrain Hobbies for the weird stuff (Fleischman ballast for mainline) & of course a shout out for e-bay for the electrical parts & odd building material no one carries anymore.
Digitrax problem
Unable to contact with my locos. I have a DT402 and a UT4. DB150 shows all correct indicators- power on. track status ok. I have a dedicated programming section. Loco shows headlight on. DT402 shows smoking chimney when loco is selected BUT no response to throttle command. Plug in UT4 and it indicates that loco is selected but no response to throttle. What can I do to solve this problem? Thanks in advance.

How To: Squeeze Bottle Ballast Spreader
Here's a simple, easy and cheap way to make a ballast spreader. Start with any cheap water bottle.
Then remove the stopper and cut the sides off clips that hold it in place.
Lastly I used a step bit to enlarge the hole to 5/16" to work with fine ballast.

I need HELP!!!
I have started to wire my layout with 2 WYES creating loops as shown in the attached diagram. My confusion is: it was recommended to me via a recent post that my AR1's be placed where the purple circles are. In addition this is where the rail gapping should be made also.
What I'm confused at is in the Green circles is where the Red and Black wires a actually reversing. So my question is. should that not be where I gap the rails and locate the AR1's???

The Super Chief - First Complete Run around the N-Scale ATSF Paradigm Division
The layout is now operational and full passenger and freight trains can now be run in both the westbound and eastbound directions and to and from the staging level. The project to complete the area inside of the east helix that will house the engine facility and coach yard is now in the planning stage.
Fast food restaurant
At the last US Model RR Convention in Rodgau, Germany, I was impressed by a Chop Suey fast food place on one of the modular layouts. I took some photos planning to look up who was making the structure thinking it would look good on my layout.
Turns out it was not a kit but a kitbashing project by Peter Speiser of the Stuttgart Model Railroaders Club, who was very kind in pointing me to the original Faller kit he started with.
