A bizzy hot summer day 1954 loading timber

Hi! smiley

I wanted to post this short video of Steamers in action on the Lumber Loading Station. It´s a bizzy hot summer day 1954.

Hope you like it.

rerailer

My Railroad Club purchased some Jiffy Rerailers years ago, it works like a drop in rerailer and works great. I was wondering if anybody knows where I can purchase some. I understand that the person who was selling them had passed away but I was wondering if anyone had took his place or any company picked it up.

Swift reefer - searching a photo

A friendly Hallo to all!

I'm in search on a prototype picture of a wooden Swift reefer of years 1930 or a bit later. This picture is very close to this picture which I took with my new Swift reefer like this.

A New Structure for Ashland Industrial Area

I have started a new scratch built structure for Ashland Ind. Area. It will be the "Sam Angrick Co. which was a Furniture Mfg. Company (this was a actual company in Ashland, WI during the 40's/50's time period I model.)

I started the brick wall inserts with Walthers Modular Wall Panels. Here I am removing the various tabs. So follow along with the next postings.

Battery Box styles for Diesel loco

Here's a question for the forum:

I'm thinking about purchasing an Atlas N Scale GE B23-7 engine, probably undecorated as the RR I"m covering is the Minnesota Commercial Railroad. . I know that it has a thick anticlimber but what has me stumped is the undecorated models are available with either Button Battery Box or Knuckle Battery Box.

Can anyone yield an explanation about the 2 types of battery box?

BTW - the prototype is the former Conrail # 1971 which Atlas does produce but they don't describe the battery box.

DCC Electrical Fun Part 2 - Using LED Assemblies plus a Track Plan Revision

This is an update to my previous DCC Electrical Fun post.  While looking for what I could use for dwarf signals in the Union Station area (the ready made ones are kind of expensive), I found an item called an LED Assembly.  They are essentially two bi-polar 3-lead LEDs in a plastic housing.  They are a good size for N-scale or HO use.  The first picture below shows the first one installed in the Union Station yard.  The second is a diagram that shows how I wired the LED assembly.

Athearn SD 40-2 problems

I have a Athearn SD 40-2 that has a serous electrical problem. When I remove the shell the chassis runs great but as soon as I put the shell on my power supply reads a short. I do not have any metal inside the shell and I have removed the power strip and have soldered jumper wires to the trucks. Can anyone please tell me what to check next?

Switch Upgrade

I was wanting to upgrade my switches from Atlas to Peco. My Athearn engines have trouble staying on the rails. I plan on using manual switches. I do plan on using DCC and some DC locomotives. What kind of switch do I need electrofrog or insulfrog?

Mike Confalone: Diesel project 1: D&H U23B, p2

Mike Confalone continues with diesel weathering project 1, the D&H "Gray Ghost" U23B. Here in part 2, Mike weathers the fuel tank and running boards with oils, and then adds more PanPastel weathering to the running boards, loco front, and truck sideframes, adding a bit of oil accent to fnish things off. Finally, Mike powers up this sound-equipped loco and runs it around New Sharon yard. Part two of two..
