Stairway to Heaven

Bye Bye DC

So my C.H.I.P. $9 mini-computer finally arrived. It's not quite as powerful as the Raspberry Pi, but at a quarter of the price it's a straight-up bargain. It comes pre-loaded with a Debian flavour of Linux which can have a bit of a learning curve, but within an hour or so I had it set up to boot right into JMRI and then automatically launch a WiThrottle server. I'm using a Sprog as the interface with the layout. Within two minutes of turning the power on, I can whip out my phone, open Engine Driver, and be off to the races. Now I just need to make everything look presentable.

Sharing experiences, tips, and techniques for using Laser Cutter Tables

Just as Stevie has created a Blog to share his experiences and others of planting Teloxys Aristata (the plant used for Super Trees), I would like to create a Blog to gather any and all useful information on using Laser Cutters. So please share any useful tips, techniques, and any other useful information that you have learned so others don't have to go through the same mistakes.  I plan on doing the same as well!

Savannah Area Model Railroading

Hi All,
Within the last couple months, I moved my family from the Denver, Colorado area to the Savannah, Georgia area. We are finally settled in and I am wanting to get a layout started, but additionally, I need to find some ops sessions.
Does anyone know if there is anyone hosting ops in this area? Also, is there a good hobby shop around?
Thanks,
Kevin

Bartlett Freight House Kit from Creative Laser Design

I have started on the N scale Bartlett Freight House wood laser kit from Creative Laser Design  I really like the kit so far based on the parts and the fact that assembly was made very easy.  They even did things like having tabs at the corners where the walls meet that mate differently at each corner so there is no way to mistakenly assemble the walls wrong.

DCC 101 Help

I am new to the hobby after years of longing. That said I've read a lot about DCC and all the cool things it does for MRR. Does anyone know of a DCC 101 type website or manual? I've done a few searches and come up empty or finding sites with partial information.
