N scaled used on HO distant perspective
I'm going to add a distant picnic scene on a hilltop and would like to have a couple of stationary cars nearby. I'm going to run HO on my layout but would like to get the perspective of a distant rail line on a hill side. Distance to the HO tracks would be approximately 12" - 20" away on this hillside. I don't want it to look like it's too far away but not too close. I'm thinking of N scale on the hill side. Z maybe a little too far in the distance.
Anyone else ever used this perspective before? Suggestions?
Thanks.

How to Paint Rusty Concrete
The building of Limon layout.
Well my desktop computer is backup and running and I haven't posted anything in a while because of it. But I've been busy building my first meduim size layout.
I've based my benchwork on a design by Iain Rice from his book "Small, Smart & Practical Track Plans". I'll modify the track layout and scenery to fit my skill level and needs.
Here's a scan of the project.
Team Track Question
I know just about any type of car can show up at a team track sooner or later. But how common was it for covered hoppers to be unloaded at a team track in the mid 60's? What kind of offline industry would be using a team track in this way? What would have been the typical kind of load going in or out? And how would the hopper have been loaded or unloaded?
On a similar note, were covered hoppers carrying plastic pellets yet in the mid 60's? Say for an offline plastics plant?
Thanks!

Progaming NCE Switch-it Mk2
Im looking for some help on programing the address on these with an MRC Prodigy Advance 2. I have gone over both manuals but I can not get the address to program. The Mk2 manual says they must be programmed on the main but the MRC manual says to use the program track.

Wendy Hamilton from Model Builders Supply returns to the TrainMasters TV studio with her green thumb to do some gardening with Lionel Strang.
What is your favorite signal manufacturer? Most durable?
What is your favorite signal manufacturer in HO? Furthermore, which has the best durability for modules on the move and can survive an arm or hand bump? Good bang for the buck would be helpful.
I am looking at 3-light aspect signals with individual visors, such as the SG-938 from Details West.

Switching and Fast Clocks
The recent discussion started here - http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/27512 by Trevor Marshall, hit upon a sub topic regarding the use (or lack thereof) of using fast clocks during a session, as specifically mentioned by Joe Atkinson and Tim Garland, and has made me think of asking specifically, since switching time can't be scaled down (especially if you are simulating things like air tests, hand brakes and crewmen "on the ground"), how does one simulate times meet, or connections?
