Modeling topic

These guys get it
I have been wanting to try Scale Models products for some time but here in New Zealand the product offerings aren't that great.
To my surprise, on a recent visit to my LMS there was a Scale Models Evans Box Car at a very reasonable price.
Assembly of the kit was straight forward and I was very pleased with the product especially as it came with metal wheels. However, I did replace the supplied couplers with Kadee 148s.
Tichy 6 Packs - Decals
Just a quick question about tichy 6 packs.
Im about to load up on some kits to add to my self for my 1930's logging short line. Flat cars USRA box cars and the Tank cars.
Curious if the six packs come with decals at all? Im after basic data decals for them as then will be lettered for my own road. If not i assume i need to add them on to the purchase :-)

Realistic power pole wire?
I’m getting WAY ahead of myself as I’m in the track laying phase and not scenery construction, but I’ve been thinking about an approach to modeling power lines. Specifically, modeling power lines that hang realistically. I’ll need to model power lines on my layout and I want the actual lines to hang like the real thing – not dead straight like many applications I’ve seen by other modelers.

How to Model eroded Cobbles under Tarmac
This week's video on tarmac uses Tamiya texture paints to get the tarmac effect.
Source for slide glass?
I know a few modelers have used microscope slide glass to replicate glass in structures and on locomotives.I would like to use slide glass on my Snow Dozer build but I've never used the stuff before My questions are;
Where do you find it?
Are there different thicknesses available?
How do you cut it?
What sizes are available?

3way turnout switch control - new way to control
Hi, New to this site. I have two 3 way turnouts and have looked into switching them with a selector switch. I have seen them designed with diodes. I set out to see if I could do one without diodes. I found a 3 position 4 pole compact switch on eBay for $4.00 ea. Here is the diagram for it.

West Linncott - Open For Business!
It has been a while my first post (5-16) regarding West Linncott on my pike:
http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/26408
I can now say most of the "heavy" work is done. Since then, all the structures have been placed, involving quite a bit of kit-bashing and scratching. I took a locomotive and a few cars down there, we can walk around and have a look in the following post.

How would I remove Atlas freight car reporting marks?
Has anyone successfully removed the reporting marks from an Atlas freight car without removing the paint?
Thanks in advance.
