2019 RPM-East

The RPM-East prototype modeler meet kicked off tonight with operating sessions at a number of layouts around Pittsburgh. I operated on Roy Ward's HO scale West Virginia Central & Pittsburgh Railroad and had a great time.

Up Close with Steam: 2-6-2, 2-8-2, and 2-4-4-2 Loggers!

Last weekend I received a wonderful anniversary gift of spending time with my terrific wife of 40 years and my son, together with a McCloud River RR #25 2-6-2, Polson Loggng Co #2 2-8-2, and the newly restored "Skookum" #7 2-4-4-2 steam locos. I thought I would share some pics with you. Enjoy! (You should be able to click on the images to get an expanded view.)

Are Shinohara 3-Way Switches DCC Compatible?

I just picked up a NCE PowerCab this past weekend to be able to use and start testing DCC equipped locos (one of them being a Rapido Turbo train so I'd like to get a longer run.) that I've got in my roster.

On my current DC layout, I've got a N scale Shinohara 3-Way switch with all 3 diverging tracks (6 rails) being isolated from the 3-Way switch. Power is fed to the switch via rail joiners on the main.

Am I going to run into any shorting issues with the way it is currently wired for use with DCC?

Been working on star ships for my science fiction layout. Check out my progress on the Mines of Xenon. Keep watching - I hope to post even more progress soon.

Elk Grove Village IL - Rail Service

Thought some might be interested in the rail layout here in Elk Grove Village. This is the home of the nation's largest industrial park and it is serviced by CP Rail/Soo from the Bensenville Yard, former Milwaukee Rd. It is interesting to note that only one runaround is available in this complex! Primary cars spotted here seem to be tank cars! This industrial park owes part of its value to its location next to O'Hare Airport.

track, for a disply, roadbed.

looking for ho scale (standard gauge, code? does not rally mater) with built on grade, in 3 foot sections, not flex track.

this is for a display on the wall. thinking maybe have ballast under the track.

was thinking using flex, but making it plumb right on straight, might not work for a display,

maybe, if possible a factory built??

maybe that cut wood road bed, then add ballast?

seen in up to 8 in sections. but need longer, just something i just never looked for before tonight.

any know of a source..is any out there?

Snyder Diesel Fuel Crane

What would the earliest era be that the Snyder Diesel Fuel Cranes would be appropriate for? I did my best to search the internet but came up empty handed...

Heres a link to the models: https://www.americanlimitedmodels.com/ho-snyder-fuel-crane-2/

Everything ingenious is simple - even DCC decoder :)

Hello fellow modelers!

I would like to reveal to you a little story and yet another but very affordable DCC accessory decoder based on Arduino like board.
