Laying Rail in my Helix, hints/suggestions
I'm finally ready to lay some track in my helix structure, ....Atlas CODE 100 flex track.
Looking for a few hints/suggestions.
I'll be attaching the Atlas track to my reinforced and painted/weather-proofed masonite roadbed. It will be a double radius installation of 32" & 29".
Naturally I will be starting at the lowest level, and working my way upward so as to have the best/clear access to the tracks. Probably be able to do a full half circle at a each shot.

Re-railers, any problems & can there be too many
Can there be TOO MANY rerailers on a layout plan?
I'm not talking about those obviously overt ones that are just plainly not needed, but rather extra ones to help assure no lengthy derails not being caught.
Are there negatives associated with the Atlas re-railers??....CODE 100

H&H Ship Photos
The Hagley Museum and Library has recently digitized some of the photos from the Harlan & Hollingsworth collection, H&H was a ship (and passenger car) builder in Wilmington, DE and was served by the P&R/RDG, PRR and B&O. It later became part of Bethlehem Steel Shipbuilding.
The collection has numerous pictures (an other info) on ships and barges of all kinds built by H&H.
Bombardier Jettrain
A project i had in my mind for many years is the Jettrain prototype build by Bombardier. Prototype Information can be found here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JetTrain

Digitrax DS64
I purchased a Digitrax DS64 with the idea of controlling my Tortoise switch machines either by push button switches or from my throttle. My concern is that the Tortoise switch machine is only rated up to 12VDC, whereas the output voltage on the Digitrax DS64 is 13.8VDC. will this harm my Tortoises or do I need to alter the output voltage?
Thanks.
Other "outside corner" layouts like Keith Jordan's The Patch?
I'm a mini-layout fan, but Keith Jordan's The Patch is the only small layout I know that solves the problem of taking the whole thing in at a glance.
On Keith's layout, someone switching the yard and freight house can't see the industries because they are around the corner. They could be miles away from each other.
Progress....slow but steady
Have not done an update in a while as I have been busy working on a couple areas that just didn't work for me. I'll have a detailed video update on my YouTube page next week. But this is what I have been working on this weekend. Getting my engine service area ready for the installation of fuel and sanding towers along with fuel pumps and other assorted materials found around a shortline service area.
If you have any thoughts or suggestions on what you see, please feel free to post them. Always helpful to have insight from others.
1980s Containers, early 1990s? Anyone have links?
Hi, just looking into containers and I have had no luck on finding a website that show 1980s and early 90s containers. Seems people started photographing them in the hundreds around 2000... :-/ Can anybody share a link or post that can help my choose what containers (paint schemes) to buy that would be accurate for the period?
Thanks so much!
Martin
Monster Modelworks

IAIS's West End - Custom decals by PDC
Since my previous source for custom Iowa Interstate (IAIS) reporting marks has gone out of business, I recently approached Bill Brillinger of Precision Design Co. about creating a new batch, along with some custom artwork for a number of unique secondhand covered hoppers on the IAIS roster. The experience was so positive, and Bill's expertise helped me to learn so much about my own prototype, that I wanted to share it with you.
More details and photos in the first reply.
