ESU Loksound - GB&W Alco C-424 prime mover sound selection
I'm programming ESU Loksound decoders for Atlas C-424 models... one of the options offered by the Loksound decoder is the Alco 251 sound:
• Prime mover #1 - "Alco 16-251 with Air Start"
• Prime mover #2 - "Alco 16-251 with Normal Start"
This is obviously a minor item since I have to ask the question in the first place, but since it is offered as a decoder option... which is the correct sound for Green Bay & Western's C-424s, built 1963-1965?

Name That Train!
Want to name your train? Want to know if the name was already taken?
In 1948 the AAR put out a directory of all the named trains of AAR members, which roads operated the train, where they operated, what type of equipment and what type of power.
Enjoy!
Here is a link to a copy of the 1948 AAR Named Passenger Train List on my website.

Let's see your weathered reefers
I'm looking for ideas for this reefer. I have weathered my other reefers, but want to do something different.

Kit, or scratchbuild?
Greetings!
I'm in process of building a Free-Mo module, just a 'scenic element' (straight, no industries), and while I've managed to catch the general feel of the area, I'd like to try getting a bit more 'prototypical' with a structure in the view. It's a farmhouse in the Hanover PA area, I've seen a couple here and there, but my attempts to find a kit that's even close have been for naught.
Decisions decisions decisions
Folks, I need your opinions. I am modeling a lot of new freight cars for my layout and presentation in my Limited Modeler column in RD. I am trying what compromised to make or not to make. Here is an example. Boxcar ends.
I want to work with the Accurail 40-foot USRA double sheathed boxcar. The ends of the model look like this (top) boxcar but this prototype is about a foot taller than what the Accurail model represents.

Scenery time: Filling in the rocks
Time to move one to some more scenery and fill in a bare spot with rocks. I will be using both my own moulds and commercial ones to cast the rocks.
