A unit train of scratchbuilt hoppers for Rob in Texas - better title

Good evening all,

I wanted to share a video of a long hopper train here and especially to Rob in Tx. The hopper bodies are all scratchbuilt by Bobby Glendinning. The train was operating on the Sipping & Switching Society of NC layout in Raleigh, NC during the 2018 event.

AC scenery lighting

I'm building a simple loop with the DC running the engine and the AC powering the scenery lighting. I only have 4 streetlights, so it's not a big draw, but my controller says the output is 19V AC and the streetlights say 12V maximum (AC or DC). What do I need to do to make this work?

Securing couplers on elevated track

I am building an elevated loop in my son's bedroom. I bought a PROTO 2000 E7 engine and a full set of Rivarossi passenger cars. They already have knuckle couplers and I added the appropriate amount of weight to each car. I am testing everything at ground level and when I run at high speed I experience a lot of decoupling. The curves are 28 to 30" radius, so it's not because of tight turns.

Kitbashing the Walthers 2 Bay Firestation into a likeness of a West Sacto Restaurant

Happy Holidays!

This series we will take this kit and turn it into a simple likeness of a historic building located in West Sacramento for the club layout. Looks like a 4 part series. I hope you like it. Let me know if I missed some details.
