Kato-digitrax decoder
Hi all, Has anyone ever installed Kato Digitrax FL12 Decoder? I have been following the instructions which came with a Superline Passenger Car to do so with no luck. The lights work before I put the chip in, but dont once the chips in, take it out again and they work. Therer are no instructions with the decoder. I have contacted Digitrax who told me to contact Kato , unfortunately they do not respond to emails. Can anyone advise me?

Testing...testing....
First post, just to see if anyone actually reads this....
OK, some content just so I don't look like a pathetic attention-seeker. Here's a Mail Pouch barn we found down a rural highway in eastern Kentucky, back in August:
A little Googling informs me that there are still quite a few of these around -- but not in my part of the world (southern Ontario) and this is the first one I've seen in the wild (as opposed to pictures of a model on someone's layout).

Extending wires on Atlas N scale remote switch machines
I'm using Atlas code 80 turnouts with Atlas remote switch machines. I need to somehow extend the 3 tiny wires that come off the machines. It looks like the wires are around 30 guage. I thought about soldering spade connectors to the tiny wires and using terminal strips, or possibly even soldering larger wires to the tiny ones. I've tried to find someone that makes micro-connectors but it's difficult. I need to get the wires neatly across my layout and to my control panel. Any ideas would be great!

Tuning/upgrading old Athearn units
Hi everyone. I'm new to MRH and was pretty excited when I came across this place. I have to say that the free online magazine is very well done. I'm looking forward to learning a bunch from everyone on here.

QSI Revolution U and Older Athearn Blue Box SD45 - Power Surging
I recently installed a QSI Quantum Revolution U decoder is an older Athearn Blue Box SD45. As DC it was a great smooth running engine. The upgrade was dicy at times but it all fit and now that it is done it sounds and runs great on the small test track, but when I put it on the mainline it surges and I can not figure out what is causing it. I've taken it apart twice to try and troubleshoot the running gear with no results.
soldering track
Is it possible to resistance-solder section track (I have HI Kato Unitrack) so as to maintain current flow for DCC operation?
Capturing That Expensive Scenery Turf/Grass
I have discovered on my first table that 1.) scenery turf and grass is expensive, 2.) it looks the best when applied quite liberally, and 3.) this liberal application is difficult to recapture for reuse.
While at the local thrift store, I spotted a handheld dustvac for a buck and thought I just might be able to make this work...
