USRA 0-6-0 models available

I'm thinking about buying a USRA 0-6-0 in HO. There seems to be quite a few to choose from in brass and I was wondering if you guys have some words of wisdom to drop on me about their quality and running abilities.

There's Akane, NWSL, Alco Models and I believe another (NKP?). Obviously the years they were produced will have a bearing on things like details, flanges and motors. I'm not adverse to changing motors or adding/changing the details but want to start with something that runs well to begin with.

HO Scale laser cutter building wal templates

I am looking at getting a laser cutter and was wondering if there was a source where I could buy or obtain some base building template files that I could use to design my buildings. As I am making a number.ber of large background buildings and other structures a set of base templates to try things out would be most useful.

Make A Better Looking Model Railroad with Fascia Panels

Today we are installing fascia panels on my model railroad layout! Fascia Panels are a great way to give your model train layout a cleaner and more finished look!

smaller sized manufacturing/fabrication industry that is rail served?

Hi modeling experts here on MRH!  I really need some real-world type suggestions for a 1990s-ish HO short line layout I'm modelingwith limited space (and not a background spot).  I have a spot/nice kits for an old brick factory that i will couple with new Pikestuff annex that's in a old Appalachian town.

Athearn Genesis 1.5 v bulb replacement with LED

Using the factory delivered decoder I am seeing 1.5 v at the Forward head light terminals on the decoder.

I am using 0603 SMD LEDs,  I have tried resistors down to 66 ohm and the LED will not light.  I suspect the 1.5 V is not enough for the LEDs needed forward voltage.

I have tried resistors down to 66 ohms, no joy.

Prototype to Layout.

We look at the real thing at Bingham canyon mine, then I show my version I built on the Copper King Mine and Railroad. There were a few things (places or structures) what was important for me to model on my layout.

It’s The Fresh Express on the AGW

It’s Fresh Friday. I recently finished these four “Fresh” cars for the AGW. They are 60’ insulated Eel River cars for hauling perishable products.  Shhh! They are on the way to Miller Brewing in Milwaukee to be loaded with Miller Beer products.

Improving Sound on HO Kato Diesels

There is no question in my mind about the fidelity of Kato HO locomotive shells. The tooling is superb and continues to improve. The downside is the shells are solid so there is little choice in installing a speaker for DCC sound. And on the recent units I modified, the frames were pretty much a road bock to sound routed through the bottom.
