Modeling topic
Manly Switch Machine Toggles
I am by training an industrial technologist. Part of my job is purchasing industrial automation parts and networking with suppliers. Recently I was in contact with a supplier in the Ukraine and it came up that we are both model railway enthusiasts. We chatted trains for a bit and I placed a small order for industrial parts. The shipment arrived a couple of days ago safe-and-sound but with a surprise. Inside the main box was a smaller box addressed directly to me with these inside:

Canada EH? - Canadian Trains and Models
HEY!
Just thought I'd start a discussion about Canadian models and/or prototypes.
Anyone have stuff from Rapido? I hear the LRC is awesome!
If anyone has info about Via in the 70's and 80's, I'm all ears.

Putting DCC and sound into Vanderbilt tenders
The railroads that I model: Tonopah and Tidewater, Tonopah and Goldfield, etc. used lots of Vanderbilt oil tenders behind their 4-6-0s and 2-8-0s. It is time that I convert a number of engines to these tenders. I am painfully aware of the wiring issues of putting a Bachmann Vanderbilt tender behind their 4-6-0. My question is where do you put the speaker? What size speaker did you fit? Did you drill sound holes, if so where? I acquired a brass Vanderbilt tender and it appears to have no way to get into the interior that I can find.
Hudson and Hartford and other stuff
I guess you guys are tired of hearing from me since no one bothers to respond or comment on any of the things I've written lately, but I do need to apout or sound off occassionally so here goes.

This is ,"huh?, om, naaaaa, can't be", but it is.

Operating Paperwork
The Penn Lake uses several type of paperwork for operations. Although set in the early 70s, most of the operating forms are based on the current forms I use everyday.
Instead of TT&TO, PL's dark territory uses track warrants, based on the NORAC Form D:
Road size
I am building my first layout anf want to build a road. Seems simple enough. In looking through years of MRR data I cannot find any reference to actual road dimensions. It seems that 22', (3 inches) appears right. Any help here?
Atlas flextrack (SuperFlex 83) revisions
Apparently Atlas HO scale flextrack (specifically their code 83 Super Flex-83) has revisions. I happened to have two pieces side by side and noticed minor differences between what appears to be revisions "A" and "C".
Micro Engineering Concrete Track
Just received my Micro Engineering track for my Fair Interlocking module, very nice concrete tie profile:

Finished, background building #2 on the H's&T's (updated)
Hi all,
well here are some "in progress pictures" from that second background building I am working on.
A little concrete weathering, some mild "overall" weathering and finishing it all off with an overal drybrush with off-white. Except for the blacks, those are drybrushed with a very light blue.
Tomorow the building lights will be added, so you all may expect an update by then...
