Kowalski & Smith Debut Discount

I am pleased to announce my first full HO scale kit, Kowalski & Smith Welding Co.  I will be making only 200 of these kits so that they won't be on every layout.

Sponge-worthy

This is a follow-up to the suggestions of using a wet sponge to smooth drywall joint compound. I sanded the initial application with 150g paper on a 10" bodyman handboard. I vacuumed and repeated this process until all joints were flat and straight without major defects. I then applied the final coat of joint compound 4-6" beyond the prior applications with a 9" knife pressed tightly. Immediately afterward I wiped the joint lightly with a wet sponge (not dripping wet but definitely more than damp).

Loco Advice...

...and I don't mean crazy suggestions! [grin]

Possible pertinent data: HO Scale, CPR, code 70 & 83 rail, ME flex, CVT Hand laid #5 turnouts except curved, minimum 24" radius curves with easements, no coupling on curves.

Here's my dilemmas, and questions;

I'm trying to nail down my era and options for motive power based on the layout I have to settle for.

I would like to model the modern era.

I would love to buy one of the newer 6 axle truck loco's, a GE Evolution ES44AC - Intermountain.

Wharf

Here is the latest on my O/On30 layout. A Liberty Sip arrived at my wharf last week. It was scratchbuilt by a good friend of mine, Jerry Diaz. The ship is 53" long dy 24" high.  The second photo is a view from the wharf side. This layout is on a 12 x 10 ft bedroom. On the standard 2 rail gauge I run a 44 Tonner and a Dockside with 40 footers rolling stock. On the On30 I run center cab diesels and 0-6-0.

Peco vs. Walthers/Sinnohora Turnouts...

I am designing an industrial shelf switching layout and have been using Peco #5 & #7C turnouts for most of the layout.  there are five places where I need to use W/S #6.5 curved turnouts to fit the trackwork into the space available.  I like the "snap over" feature of the Peco turnouts as the layout will be hand operated with a wooden uncoupling/switch throwing pick.  I don't want to use ground throws to hold the points in position.  Is there a mechanisim that works like the Peco mechanisim that can be used on the W/S turnouts?

Powering Jordan Mack Railcar

I am having trouble powering the Jordan Models 1922 Mack Railcar, especially the front truck.

Has anyone powered this model?

Re-thinking my Kawartha Lakes Railway Layout

Kansas City Southern Lines Layout

As I have posted before, I work in Colorado, but my basement/layout is 500 miles away in eastern Kansas.  I have an 1800 sq ft basement for my dream layout (KCS 1981 in HO scale).  I have a workbench in my apartment in Colorado so I can do some modeling.  I usually get home one weekend a month, but have been home a week for the Thanksgiving holiday.  I use "domino" construction and moved my previous apartment layout to the new basement.  It was a two track main with some passing sidings and some switching, but was a "round-round" which became bor
