Backdrop height suggestions?
I'm not quite ready yet to put up backdrops, but does anyone have suggestions for how tall they should be? I'm doing HO, single shelf around as much of a 10 x 12 foot room as possible; the shelves are 24-30". I figure 24" would give two pieces from one sheet of Masonite or 1/4" MDF (from experience in furniture building I know wetting it thoroughly before bending will allow the MDF to contour beautifully). The backdrops will be installed before the scenery is begun, which will in turn begin after I have finished laying the rest of the track, wiring, and testing.
Seen this tool before
Do not tell me this is the Rail Bender from Fast Tracks, I know that.
Has anyone seen the original of this tool before. Seems to me I saw the original before and trying to find out what it was used for.
Some type of wire forming tool or a fretwire bender comes to mind. Just curious if anyone recalls having seen it before. I had done some research and found an identical tool, but darned if I can find it now.
The scaling on it tells me this was not meant for bending rail, originally
Operating at Scale Speeds
I have noticed in some videos that scale speeds are sometimes not observed in operating sessions, especially in the yards. Seems to me that not operating at scale speeds make the train movements look toy like.
What is the common operating practice - observe scale speeds or not? If they are not observed what is the reason?
Your input is appreciated.

HO Scale Sea Wall
I'm looking for a steel sea wall in HO scale similar to what Brawa used to sell for my car float scene but I can only find one product out there (the Brawa wall no longer exists? At least I can't find it anywhere...) which is pre-weathered and not really what I'm after.
Any help would be appreciated!

Rail Blackening
I just jumped right in. I did give it some thought before I reached out for Rail and Ties.

22 Stories Up - Decision Point (1)
A continuation to the story following my progress of the Central Vermont RR's Barre Branch layout's construction.
This topic represents a major decision point in the construction due to an unexpected consideration.
The idea is to work up each module individually, putting down the roadbed, track, wiring, and turnout controls while the module rests in an easily workable state, and than join it to the next one once that is completed.

New editor for posting - how do we upload an image to appear in a post?
I can't figure out how to insert an image into a posting with the new editor. Please advise.
