Water Tank Cars

Does anyone know where I can find prototype operating particles for Southern Pacific water tank cars, I know they were used on the Siskiyou Line but were they used on the cascade Line or at Niles Canyon and Altamont Pass.

When were they used and for what purpose, where were they stored when not in use ? I'm sure there is a web site out there with all this information so if someone could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

The Start of Infinty loop

After months of putting it off, drawing 10 different designs I've officially started to piece together my dream layout, a modular layout around 16' by 24' ft.  much bigger then any room in my house so I'm building it as universal as possible so I can create small sections and still run a full circle.  Its being designed as a two track main line transporting coal, oil, and container services.  It's completely from scratch although some components and concepts are coming off of Google earth, in which I've found random yards to base staging off of.&nbs

locomotive wiring problem

Hey All

I recently wired a NCE D13 SRJ Decoder in a walthers  GP-9M AM Trak  loco,  after hooking the wires up and programing it,  when I push the forward button it would run in reverse and same for reverse it goes forward this is the first installation of a walthers loco. Done some in Athearns and no problem. What is the differance in the way it's hooked up? Any help would be great.

Thanks ,Turkeycall

New guy here

Hello everyone. My name is Michael. I just joined here. Been a lurker for a while. While I can't even come close to some of you expert modelers here, I thought I'd share some of my layout photos.

This is my first real layout (since I was 7 years old with a 4x8 tyco trains).

I'm from Denver, CO. I'm 42. I started my layout about a year and a 8 months ago.

HO Scale. Main Layout 12'x15', extension room is 10'x10' (Just finished the benchwork for it).

Automobile Bridge

Hello All:

On my HO layout in progress I would like to model a bridge that carries vehicles and pedestrians which ends at the edge of the layout. I am looking for suggestions on kits or parts to use in making the bridge. I had seen a manufacturer who makes a vehicle bridge in my web travels and thought I saved the information.

Thanks for any suggestions or point in the right direction.

Alcove Expansion - Fascia Installation

After some careful consideration the cold hard truth hit me that I'm not going to be able to complete the alcove area before my October 15th open house on the Piedmont Pilgrimage.  Accepting this fact I decided to change focus to try and install what I though would be pleasing for my visitors.  Since I believe that fascia and a fascia curtain help define the area and give it a more finished look I'm going to concentrate on getting those items installed.  I believe that I won't have any problem getting this task completed.  Here are some pictures of the pro
