West Kootenay Branch Line

I've been lurking here for the most part over the last couple years.  My first blog posting on this site was to introduce and post up details, etc, on the build process of my ISL based on a fictional branch line in my neighborhood managed by Canadian Pacific called the "Scarborough Harbor Branch Line".

Yarder colors

What is a good color for black iron used in steam yarders and related equipment?  I remember a lot of grungy looking black, but not really a lot of rust for well maintained equipment.  Old equipment used many years ago by my dad still doesn't have a lot of rust on it, just on the wear areas.  Bull rigging and other things dragged through the dirt, rocks, limbs and other stuff on the job that had paint scraped off are rusty.

I'm thinking a tarnished black with a dark brown wash with wear areas a redder brown.

Canadian National HO scale H6 class 4-6-0 info wanted

Howdy Everyone,

I am working on an HO scale modeling project that involves rebuilding an old brass Van Hobbies CNR class
H6 4-6-0. I am having DCC/Sound installed and plan on having her detailed as CNR 1533 circa 1958. Dose
anyone out there have any photos of the CNR H6's in service, especially the 1533 / 1325 in commuter service
in the Montreal area?

A short Railbus movie

During the Weinfest (winefair) at Volkach (Frankonia) the Mainschleifenbahn, a heritage railway who owns a VT96 railbus runs a special timetable during the fair. I made a short film.

Design idea for a logging/mining layout

Hey everyone,
It's been a long time since I have posted.
But good news... I have acquired a new area to build a layout. The room will be approximately 14'x15', with a 3'x20' staging/reverse loop area.  I have yet to even stud out the walls, so I have a long way to go before running trains.:D
