Union Pacific bent rail coaling tower

Anyone out there familiar with UP's bent rail coaling tower?  I am in the process of building one in N scale.  Just wondered  if anyone else has modeled this.

Not for your standard sized American model railroader...

Okay, let me put this up front - way too many of us would shop off the "Plus" size racks if they listed mens clothing that way.

This layout would be inaccessible for us:

(trap door entry that appears to be about 18"x18" and a 4ft ceiling)

First diorama complete on the UNPR

After eight months on my newbie layout a feeling of achievement in finally completing one small section.  The pictures below show my sawmill on a spur track. The building has lights, the water wheel turns and the saw blade in the mill operates.  The ridge on the left needs a few more trees but the mill and siding are complete.  Yeehasmiley

Trial and error

As I get farther along with my modular project, I get a bit overwhelmed as to how much I need to learn and experience.  Since I switched to N scale several years ago, even though I got trackwork completed on a layout, I haven't done any scenery or structure building.  All my (limited) experience in those area were from my earliest days doing HO.  Time to flex the mental muscles and get my head thinking smaller!

MDT?

What does MDT stand for in Bachmann MDT Plymouth switcher? Same question for WDT?

Thanks,

Al

The Great 2012 Layout Design Contest Is Now Over!

Well, "Great" may be overstating it just a touch, but it is what it is.  As those that have been following my pitiful blog over the last few weeks know, I have decided to switch from N scale to HO scale for two main reasons:  I've been collecting as much or more HO stuff (that mostly isn't available in N) which has created a divide in my hobby allowance forcing me to put off doing stuff on my N scale layout.  I felt more I needed to pick one and go with it, and the availability of stuff I want in HO wins hands down.
