Diluting Isopropyl Alcohol

I am considering weathering some freight cars and in my "info gathering" there are recommendations about not using 100% solution of Isopropyl Alcohol as it strips paint!

I can only source 99.9% Isopropyl Alcohol locally.

So my question is can I dilute with distilled water by volume to make 70% & 90%?

Thanks

Conway Scenic Railroad Steam In The Snow 2013 Video and Photo

Yesterday was the "Steam in the Snow" event at the Conway Scenic Railroad. I followed the train and shot some pretty good video along the route. There was quite a large crowd following along as well. It was a pretty nice Day for chasing Trains in the mountains. Here's a photo

Here's the video.

Using JMRI Operations - A worked example - Part 4

In this blog entry, I correct some mistakes and then start to take a look at schedules and custom loads.

My previous blog postings on this are: part 1, part 2 and part 3.

As always, I am indebted to the folks at JMRI for producing such a great, free program. You can find the JMRI web site here.

Eeebox Store

I was wondering if anyone here has had any experience with Eeebox Store. They have a $600 Bridgewerks magnum power supply for $150. Sounds tempting and everything I have learned so far about Eeebox is that it is a website selling direct from Chinese manufacturers. So does anyone here know anything about them?

Opinions Please: Better to go through a scene twice or hide the train once around the room?

My staging yard is directly behind the main yard of my layout.  This makes the yard look larger and is the best use of the space I have.  In order to make the layout seem larger, I am planning on running the train around the room one time and pretending the town is a different town (i.e. having one physical location on the layout be multiple locations along the right of way).  Am I asking for trouble, or is this a good way to lengthen the layout?

Curve Radius = I have a problem.

I have limited space.  I can only construct a 8 x 4 in the limited area I have.  I wanted to have a continuous run outer track with some sort of industrial/yard set up in the middle.

Control Interoperability

Discussions concerning a question about "Radio Control Layout" have overflowed into considerations of basic control architectures and how they may or may not be operated together.  With the introduction of RailPro, the hobby has access to a new control system to be weighed against the many systems available.
