Model Power calls it quits
From their website
Dear Model Power Customers,
After nearly 50 years serving the hobby industry, our 3rd generation family business will closing effective immediately.
In 2007, our banks began an aggressive deleveraging process. They no longer approved of a profitable and paying client such as ours, which had been reliant on inventory. This is why one of the industry's most extensive lines, had begun to see much of its products unavailable on the market. Now it will no longer be seen at all.

Source of N Scale Chain Link Fencing Material
I have been searching for some time for a suitable material to make N scale chain link fencing and came across this product the other day whilst browsing through a Spotlight store (the NZ equivalent of Michaels I guess).
Being 10.5mm wide, it is almost a perfect 6 N scale feet (actually 5.5ft).
The photos show it before being painted and the spool of ribbon in case anyone wishes to search for it.

Richlawn RR V2 - Background hills rock coloring & foliage
**** UPDATED 5-21-14 **** Trees, bushes, and more trees
**** UPDATED 5-12-14 **** Trees being added along with bushes
**** UPDATED 4/30/14 **** First layer of ground foam added to hills.
It took three days for the carved plaster hills to fully cure. I had to wait until they were cured otherwise it's difficult to color them and the color of the plaster is different uncured. I use the "spotted method" (that I learned from others) along with washes and dry brush highlights.

Scratchbuilt Gantry Crane/Yard Lights
As Joe F has been saying their aren't enough scratch build articles, so I figured I would document my last little project.
I have been slowly developing a little diorama on one of my sidings using Walthers Central Gas & Supply. One of the things that I wanted to add was some working yard lights. Having perused what was available on the interweb, I could find nothing suitable and decided to make something myself.
N&W Pokey District, Sub 1 3/4 New Update
It's been a long time since I posted an update on the construction of my HO layout, so I thought it was time to let my fellow MRH readers know what's been happening lately on the N&W Pokey District, Sub 1 3/4!
Brake wheel which way does it go lead or dead on a freight car?
Have newbie question:
Modeling 60's to 70's over the Sierra's.
When a run of cars are purchased from say Pullman Manufacturing, which way is the brake wheel positioned in the lead or dead?
So in operation would it matter which way the brake wheel is positioned.
Happy Easter

Who here uses Sergent couplers?
Just wondering about feedback from any Sergent coupler users. Thinking of switching over for a variety of reasons.
Interested to hear from those who operate with them.
Also, how you finish them off in proper colorings and prep work.
Any other place to buy them rather than direct?
Thanks in advance,
direct dcc
