Preserving history and memories

I haven't posted anything for a while, but I recently finished a scratch building project that I thought I would share here. This is my interpretation of an old depot that was in Fond du Lac, WI. Originally built by the Wisconsin Central ca. 1892, it eventually became part of the Soo Line. I grew up in FDL, and have many memories of this building, both as a boy fishing in the river just behind it and hanging out there with a favorite uncle who was a railfan, modeler and prof.photographer.

In-ko-pah RR: The Dos Manos Jail

Just past the east end of the town of Dos Manos on my 1/24th scale railroad, there is a wiring junction set into the ground between two tracks. Last fall I poured a mortar foundation around the junction box:

Adding weight to a Bachmann Steam Loco

I'm posting this as it may be useful to other folks with steam locos.

I just purchased an HO Bachmann 2-8-4 Berkshire steam loco from MRH sponsor Yankee Dabbler. It's not a spectrum model. I model in the diesel era, but I think steam locos are cool. So I got one. My intention was to use it to haul a "museum" passenger train consisting of 7 heavyweight passenger cars.

B'mann HO K4 - What do I do with it?

At a train show yesterday, I purchased a Bachmann PRR K4 Pacific for the princely sum of $20.  I don't really need a K4, and I seriously doubt that one ever ran on the Danville & Western, or even that it could have made it if they tried.  However, the price was just too good to pass up, so I bought it.  Now I'm asking for some advice on what to do with it.
