Condo/Loft Layout: Culvert scene and Train Operation

My ongoing blog about building a small 6' x 1' 1/2 switching layout and a 4' 1/2 staging/Interchange in a Condo in Toronto.

As we approach the Holidays and we expect guests, I want to get going on the scenery and building construction. However, the layout is light and small enough (6' x 1' 1/2) that I can pull it off the shelving support and store in the closet in lieu of my progress.

Scenery: Culvert/Pond Scene

Here is a photoshopped demo of the Culvert/Pond scene i've been working on:

Installed my First Ever DCC Decoder a DZ126T into Model Power FP-7

She ain't pretty but she works.

The Model Power all metal FP-7 is "DCC Wired" - not sure what they meant, but it was not one of those plug in pins, nor were the wires colour coded to DCC colours.

Thanks to those here who recommended this one as a good candidate for my first Decoder.

Mile markers on the Allagash

Mike,

In several photos of the Allagash I noticed several BM/MEC styled mile posts. How did you go about making these?

Need any operators!?!

Paint for locomotive ?

I will be painting an O scale Red Caboose GP9 in a very simple B&O scheme.

My online research has been hampered with out of date information now that PolyScale and Floquil paints are no longer available.

I would like to choose one manufacturer and stick with them, but which one?  If you had to start from scratch and choose just one manufacturer of model paint what would it be and why ?

For you B&O fans, do you have a paint formula for the blue and yellow like the picture below?

The THING! What is it ? What can I do with it?

I found this along side the road while at work. Not sure what it is. Better question is what can I do with it?  Futuristis pollution control building for coal fired power plant?  Blower building for steel mill?  My models are HO scale. The Thing is plastic. Thanks,   Roger.
