Sound Test Board

This video is great, the test board and miniature speakers make me think it would be worth building something like this for testing before installing.

Movie Challenge: Indentify the structure.

This might be a difficult challenge, but I am curious about the identity of a structure I saw in an old B&W movie.  The description is;

It was an all wood structure with a wood structure at the top.
It had two sets of sloping tracks going up at about 40 degrees from ground level.  The track actually curved up into the slope and ran up straight to the upper structure.
In between the two sets of tracks was a walkway that was used by the characters in the movie to walk up and down.
It was also part of a larger wooden structure.

Track Plan development in 3-D

After considering everyone's comments and suggestions thing have been slowly progressing. While the journey is enjoyable, I am eager to get some trains running. Below are some shots of progress to date.

This seems to be a good spot as any to document construction so may stay here (with exception to my normal diversions). It is changing as I build and learn more. Less is more.

The plan is scaled up from HO to On30 in my 16'x24' room (outside dimensions).

Attaching lights to buildings

I recently purchased a couple of buildings. I also bought a few lights for them as well. What is the easiest and safest way to attach these lights to this building. Drill hole, insert wires, glue with same glue used to put building together? I will be using Ambroid Proweld to glue the building together. I don't plan on removing the lights in the future, but will be adding some interior LED's to the building.

Coupe/Pickup Truck

In a photo on Jim Six's blog, I noticed a 1930 something coupe which had apparently been converted to a pickup truck by inserting a mini truck bed into the trunk area. Some searching on the internet showed that this wasn't an owner made mod, but an actual design sole by Chevy from 1936 to the early 1940s.

Kaslo and Slocan part 3

After a delay while we were designing a new benchwork system, the Kaslo & Slocan is off and running again. The benchwork is a modification of a system that was first described in the Jan. and Feb. issues of Model Railroader. Yes I know I'm dating myself but the issue called Bookcase Model Railroad has intrigued me ever since I read it. In fact in the early 90's I made several of the modules to validate the system. The design worked except is was very heavy and the shelf brackets available at the time were difficult to install and didn't offer the bracket lengths available today.

Double-hung, Double-Paned Windows From Scratch - Part 2

As promised, here is the second part of my step-by-step process for building windows from scratch.

wiring BLMA signals

I am looking into wiring BLMA signals to twin coil switch machines. I am unsure if I can wire them direct to the switch machine. Most LED signals have a wire for every light which make it possible to wire to. What I need to know is is it possible to wire the signals direct to the twin coil switch machines??? Help please......
