PROGRESS ON MY PEAVINE SUB

to all

this is a short video on the progress i made this weekend....the PEAVINE is underway. now it's over to Lowes to pick up some material for the sub roadbed & back drop. i had a slight advantage because i recycled my previous frame work. all the work was done by me solo..the only help i had was 5 clamps. i don't think my hand appreciated all the work because it hurts like hell. until next time....bnsf6951 out

Shredded paper for tree cover?

I was driving down the highway the other day and noticed some trees with some very large leaves. I have always thought most trees on model train layouts are lacking realism in that they rarely show leaves.

Then it hit me, as I am currently designing a On30 layout, why not take green paper and run it through a shredder?

MA&G NEW VIDEO

A great video of the upper level of the MA&G layout. This is one of the Best Modelers on this Planet.  Cliff Powers.

Take time to go to his web site and look at the pictures and Videos it will be the best 4 hours you can spend in this hobby.  PS I lived in NO for 62 years this is as close as you get to being 100 percent correct as possible in the space this railroad is built in. Open Post more video links attached.

I probably shouldn't ask this, but........

.....Here I was, enjoying my morning coffee and catching up with Jim Six's latest post about "too much", and I had to go do this thing called "work" half way thru reading....I come back not 30 minutes later and POOF! it's gone, and not just that thread, but all his threads!

Please, PLEASE don't tell me that what WAS on the first page or two a VERY civil discussion, got out of hand by page three, and was taken down, or God forbid, Jim said "the Heck with this abuse" and took his toys and left MRH for good.

Double-hung, Double-Paned Windows From Scratch - Part 1

A few people have asked for more details on how I build my windows, so I've written up a step-by-step walkthrough of how I do it.  It seems daunting, but once you've built the first couple and get more comfortable, it really goes pretty smoothly.

First, think about the basic parts that make up a double-hung, double-paned window.  Structurally, it's very simple (click for larger image):

Looking for an image of: IC 50' Welded door Boxcar

Particularly showing if there was a roofwalk on these cars.  Note that many times IC was different in their construction, so other RR may or may not agree with what IC had.  HO models are all over the map on yes or no, which is why I want a photo of a real car.
