Looking for a recommendation for sound decoder

I want to put sound in a Bachmman Spectrum 2-8-0. I got the loco for a good price and I have put a Spectrum Vanderbilt Medium tender on it as shown:

Kato Unitrack and MTH locos

I recently purchased a MTH HO locomotive and couldn't get it to work with either my DCC controller or a MTH DCS Commander.  I could get it to run around the track, but no sound, no smoke.  So right now it's back with the retailer for testing.

Workbench Tool Caddies

Just wanted to pass on a couple different tool caddies that I made.

The second one is the one I stuck with and use daily, the first design was a stepping stone to get to the second.

I did like that the first one had a place for glue, that idea didn't work so well with the second.   First one had it's problems too.

Layout for a room 3m x 3m

Hi, I have a spare room that measures 3m x3m and would like to fit a HO scale layout that has possibly 2 levels or 1 level with mountain scenery in the background. My last layout was in a room 3m x 6m but that was dismantled with only the track being saved. I would appreciate any help that can be put my way. I model B&O Steam and Diesel as well as UP steam and diesel. My mental picture is lots of mountains, valleys and bridges.

Great Kit Assembly Video

This is a great video on assembly of a model. Please note that all parts are painted. I do not mask edges but scrape paint off with exacto knife after painting but this is each to there own.

Richlawn RR V2 - Swing gate track part B - completed

I've been working on my swing gate for my railroad and finally finished the track portion.  This finishes the series of blog posts.  If you would like to follow from the beginning below are the links to the posts going from the most recent to the oldest:

finally got started

Finally got moving, slowly as it is.

The benchwork is modular, based on the Battleframe series of modular games table bases by Back 2 Base-ix, though if I was to try again I would NOT have a layout this small modular, with nothing to align the track but the flatness of the tabletop. The magnets used to connect these things are strong, but have this annoying tendency to not fit in the holes correctly. It would also reduce disconnection of track.

Is Brasso OK for cleaning brass items before painting?

I'm about to paint a Suydam brass passenger car body that's about forty years old. After testing Brasso on styrene to be sure that it wouldn't damage some styrene details, I scrubbed the body with it and thoroughly washed it off with soap and water. It doesn't look like the Brasso caused any harm. It sure got rid of the tarnish.

Drawing a track plan

Good evening all,

How would I make up a track play of my layout?  I see some that are posted and feel it would be a great addition to include one in my operating handouts.

Thanks

Trains are moving on the BNML!

Avery is testing the trackwork in the freshly completed staging area of the BNML.

What he's actually doing is having fun switching for the first time...
