CPR Saskatchewan Ave. Spur Question
Ok, so I have a question about the CPR Spur near Saskatchewan Ave. in Winnipeg. When/what time is it usually used? I'm asking because I would like to try to get a video of them there. If I had to guess, I would say in the earlier hours of the day, but I don't know. If somebody knows, then could they tell me please, thanks.

New Buildings and a bunch of poles
Between all the good weather there was bad weather. That meant putting a bunch of new buildings together and starting some more scenery.

Equipment for the Coal Branch (1910-1940 coall short line in Alberta, Canadian National)
John Kennedy:,
I am dreaming of building a shelf layout (perhaps three scenes or towns) for a short line which hauled coal from mines in the foothills of ghe Alberta Rockies to the Canadian National main line west of Edmonton. The time period would be roughly 1900-1940. Equipment was small: 4:4:0, 2:6:0 and small gondolas. I expect I would join the scenes with a helix at each end as the trains climb into and out of the mountains.

Modifying a 12V LED strip to operate on 5V for use with Gold-caps (Super capacitors) for coach lighting
Back in June I wrote an article on Flicker free LED's for under $2 for coach lighting.
The drawback with operating on 12V is you cannot use the 5.5VDC rated Gold-caps (Super capacitors) but need to use larger electrolytics for flicker free operation. Also the commercially available LED tape needs a minimum of 7.8V to even light up the LED.
Well the price of 5M LED tape is still compellingly cheap on eBay, than buying 5V LED tape at some crazy price. A little modification and patience lends into a very useful idea, achievable in 15-20 min.
G Scale Control for around the wall with built in auto start/stop
I have a compatriot who has built an around the wall G scale shelf of a business. He wants to be able to control the train remotely and have it start stop at various places on demand.
Any recommendation on a SIMPLE control system to do that?

Exhibition piece revisited
Next week, I will visit the modell-hobby-spiel fair in Leipzig, Germany. It is a huge annual event on the Leipzig fairground covering all kinds of creative hobbies. An entire hall is dedicated to model railroading. Last year, I made a model railroad diorama, which was displayed in a showcase at the stand of a TT scale retailer specialized in US models. Since this year, I will be just a visitor, it's a good opportunity to revisit my exhibition piece from last year.
Old-school scratchbuilding
When I was in my teens - early '60s, I built my first model railroad layout with the help of my uncle, who was a professional photographer, railfan and modeler. He introduced me to the hobby, and I have many fond memories of our friendship.

Are the underframes for the A & B units the same or different parts? Thanks.
