Locos - Rolling stock (general)

1974 period collection

These will be the eight cars used for my inglenook. All have the ACI labels/plates on them. I'll turn these images into cards for shuffling. I have a auto carrier, but is too long for inglenook sessions.

BAEX 50' Boxcar

BAEX (Diamond Crystal Salt) 50' Boxcar,

To All: One of my newest projects is this Diamond Crystal Salt 50' boxcar that I painted, lettered, weathered and dullcoated. I installed Intermountain Wheels, #58 Kadee couplers and weighted to NMRA specs. The car is a Details West offering. Decals are by Ricky Rupp of Modern Rail Company. Inspiration came from a photo accessed on the Web. Yours, Elvin Howland/E. St. Louis Rail Group Layout

does anyone know how to make it brake light that stays on even when the trains stopped eithe with an accelerometer or vibration

does anyone know how to make it brake light that stays on even when the trains stopped either wwithn accelerometer or vibration sensor. Ideally to stay on for a few minutes after stopping on a dc layout.

Taking exactrail boxcars apart

Hi gang,

I have been tinkering with adding weight to my various cars, and I have found myself unable to open my exactrail cars...

Any tips? or should I just drill a hole in the bottom and fill them up with sand?

Thankyou,

Martin

8111 is still in trouble...

My first ever Lionel didn't come to me inside wrapping paper. I was in 4th grade, and it was at the town dump. A friend of our family saw it, and grabbed it for me. It was MPC era, and appears to be a incomplete, slightly mis matched 1970 "Yardmaster" set. I was going on a biking trip with my family that day, and couldn't wait until I could see the train. I dug it out of the box, and looked it over. Funny thing is, the container it was in was by coincidence a trash can, without a lid. The train was in junk condition. But it was complete. The tracks were rusty.

Electrical Contact Performance Problems--

Gentlemen:

As far as Loco electrical contact problems, as a DCC decoder installer running my own business, I've encountered this on many engines! Mostly Bachmann Steam (4-8-2's, K4-4-6-2's), Athearn-Genesis Diesels, and even some of the older Atlas-Kato, and Stewart diesels(both made by Kato, or Bowser)!

The for the Bachmann  4-8-2 Steam, is to remove the wipers, that curve down toward the rail, and ad spring loaded "pin" wipers on the bottom axle cover, that line up 90 degrees directly with the backs of the wheel flanges!

RS1500DC ???? Huh?

I picked this up at a swap meet this weekend. The guy told me it was a RS1500DC. Oh? I can't find a thing on the net if such animal ever existed and I don't think it did. What do the experts say. From the chassis it looks like an Athearn product, but I don't ever recall an Athearn producing such a thing.
