Chalk cliff waterfalls

Hi! This is an inspirational video I made to attract more people to get started with miniature modeling. Not too many trains in this one, but water has a magic attraction to the general public.

Lights are turning on this weekend

I have invested in some Roomettes interiors with lighting for two buildings. I will start with the apartments as they are close to my just plug controllers. Doing a test on the first four rooms.

British Citizens Moving in on the Layout'

We all  love our little people, and no layout can have to many too many of them.  Recently I discovered two companies in Great Britain, selling 3-D figures in several popular scales.  I ordered just a few from each company to see if I would like them.  Here are before and after photos.  Let me know what you think'.  I must add, I received them from England, in just a few days after ordering them...

How to laser cut a "bricks on edge" window opening

I've wanted to build my childhood home for years and was hoping to have it laser cut by a good friend with a laser.  A problem area is at the bottom of the window ledge where the bricks are on edge and slightly slanted downward.  Is there a way to do this?  I guess separate pieces could be made for those edge on bricks.  Any ideas?

The value of a well placed tree

This scene at the upper edge of Meek's Canyon on the Black n' Blue features a couple of Canyon Creek Scenics conifers. I usually make my own trees but I've got a ton of detailing to do and I thought this area deserved a little splurge. Shout out to Pete for the great trees he made me! My tree is the obvious one sandwiched between two of Pete's.

3D Printing ADM - Update 1

Well my coal dumper that I wrote about is on the back burner. Decided to finish more of the layout before adding on :-) One of the main industries on the layout is to be an ADM facility that is similar to that in Cedar Rapids, IA. I had it represented you a bunch of PVC pipes for years. As I was recently retired I decided to work on it, throw away the PVC pipes and build it using 3D printing.

Another Natural Product

After a long summer it is good to be back to the layout.  I continue looking for natural material to use and I happened to be looking at corn stalks yesterday.  The tassel at this time of year is dark brown to almost black in color.  When I grabbed some it came out in a long strand that included a reddish colored strand, as well.  Some quick work with scissors produced a nice looking brush material that contrasts nicely with the tan colors already in place.  Some glycerine should preserve this nicely.  Here are some test shots.  See if it works for yo
