What 3D printer?

Prices on 3D printers are coming down significantly, to the point I feel I can justify one. I can’t afford (or use inside my future residence) a resin printer, which would obviously be the best and most expensive option in current technology, particularly for smaller scales... so I’m looking at filament printers, with enough print space to do N scale objects 100 feet long at a minimum, and with resolution as high as possible, while keeping the cost within my limited budget. I know there will unavoidably be artifacts such as layers, but I want to minimize them.

Resin water: are multiple pours bad?

Some of the resin products offered for simulating water indicate that you should try to stay at 1/4" deep or less per pour.  Woodland Scenics has a relatively new "deep pour" product that says it is good for 1/2" deep pours.  I have a fairly long river bed, with varying depths, and it might not work to fill it all in a single pour.

Industrial Freight Door Question

I am working on 3 freight doors. 2 are pictured below. The 3rd is the same width, but will be taller. So the question is what kind of bracing do I add to these? An X through the center, another horizontal piece with a X above and below or something else?

The doors will be placed on the building as they appear below.

Thanks,  Jack

Youtube "for kid" recommendations on rotary dumper video

I recently posted a video of my scratchbuilt rotary dumper and indexer on Youtube.  It currently has 125 views after a month or so.  The really weird part is, when I've shown it to a few friends, viewing it on Youtube, all the recommended/suggested videos are Peppa Pig, nursery ryhmes and other little kid cartoons.  I know kids are very smart these days but most are not interested in old Heyl Patterson rotary dumpers or have any skills to make such a thing.  I'm wondering if anyone has insight to how my video got associated with kid cartoons.

All the world...

is just a stage. I'm taking the philosophy that I'm going to complete my layout one scene at a time. I view the layout as a series of 'sets' that the viewer passes through. Each 'set' will be visually isolated from the others to a certain extent so that people experience them one at a time. Within each 'set' will be a series of detailed scenes that the viewer has to carefully analyze to get an overall idea of the time and location of the layout.

Walthers Double-Track Railroad Bridge Stone Abutment 933-4584

I sent the following question to Walthers a couple of times over the past couple of weeks and have yet to receive any response.  The subject is the Walthers Double-Track Railroad Bridge Stone Abutment - Resin Casting p/n 933-4584 seen below.

Need help with a (coaling tower?) structure - where to place what to add?

Good morning everyone.  So, here's the story,  I picked up this great looking structure a (really) long time ago.  It looks to be scratch built from cardstock and basswood.  It's a really nice model.

To my uneducated eye, it appears to be a coaling tower and I was planning to use it as such at a small engine servicing depot I'm planning.

Looking for opinions on color for power transmission towers

This is about traditional power transmission towers.  I need some recommendations for what is an appropriate paint color/mix that would be prototypical. Grey primer is far too white. (AV)  If I was using modern transmission "towers", I could paint them a rust color, among others, as that is what the ones near me in Arizona are. But then again, I'm modeling Kansas.

Thanks in advance.
