Single Water Tower Servicing Two Mainline Tracks
Perhaps the water tower had two discharge nozzles, one on either side??
Storage Tank Types,..for oil, gasoline, propane, etc, etc
I'm interested in a little summary of the various types of storage tanks we often see on our model railroads, ...and their specific uses,... as well as their alternative uses.
Walthers Glacier Industrial Sand
Can anyone explain the purpose and/or the process the equipment in the kit is used for so it can be modeled properly? So what is the purpose of the Intake Hopper? Does the hopper that is part of the main Elevator for loading railcars just transfer "finished sand" into the concrete silos (that part seems logical but don't want to assume so still going to ask)? Also, according to the instructions this kit "...can be combined with other buildings to model a complete operation".
Tru-color paint
I am planning on air brushing a grain elevator using Tru-color paint. The problem is that I feel like the sheen is glossier than I desire. I have a jar of Tru-color flat coat; can I add a small quantity of this to the basic paint to reduce the sheen, or do I need to air brush the model afterwards with the flat coat?
Niner Creek
Here's some shots that show the gradual evolution of "Niner Creek". Hope y'all enjoy...
Blast from the past (Old Scenery book)
Just got this in the mail yesterday. I've literally worn out several copies since I got my first one at around the age of 10. I know most everything in it, cover to cover, from memory but I saw it on e-bay and decided I wanted it as a keepsake. This one is in really good condition. Some folks consider the information dated but it's still a very valuable resource. When I showed my 17 year old daughter the center spread of the G&D, she said "That looks like your railroad Dad." I don't think I could get a better compliment!
