Monster Modelworks Awning in the Works
We are developing a new kit - Feller's Garage which needs an awning.
We figured the awning would be great as a separate kit in different sizes.
The finished version for the Feller's kit is done, in this photo I held it up to one of our Starter Structure kits.
Below is the Feller's Garage prototype...
Wires, buildings and painting
The winter weather has settled in up here on Schist Lake. Our lake has 10 inches of ice and enough snow to take the snowmobile out for a ride. Since I don't own a snowmobile, I have been out snow shoeing for exercise. When not in front of the tv or computer, I am up in the layout room working away.
I have been doing the yearly maintenance required to run the layout without too many issues. Several locomotives and cars have all been cleaned, greased and oiled as required.
Condo/Loft Layout: Culvert scene and Train Operation
My ongoing blog about building a small 6' x 1' 1/2 switching layout and a 4' 1/2 staging/Interchange in a Condo in Toronto.
As we approach the Holidays and we expect guests, I want to get going on the scenery and building construction. However, the layout is light and small enough (6' x 1' 1/2) that I can pull it off the shelving support and store in the closet in lieu of my progress.
Scenery: Culvert/Pond Scene
Here is a photoshopped demo of the Culvert/Pond scene i've been working on:
The THING! What is it ? What can I do with it?
I found this along side the road while at work. Not sure what it is. Better question is what can I do with it? Futuristis pollution control building for coal fired power plant? Blower building for steel mill? My models are HO scale. The Thing is plastic. Thanks, Roger.

Bridges by the dozen
Bridges and more . . .
While searching the internet for photos of plate girder bridges as references for painting and weathering, I found the following website :
The site has photos of thousands of bridges from all over the United States and these are categorized by state, type, condition, etc so it is easy to find many examples of the type of bridge you are modeling or even the exact prototype.
Building Occupancy Detection
I've got a finished building about 22" long that has two tracks running into it. Each track has wheel stops at the end. I'm thinking of some sort of detection system to light an LED on a control panel when something approaches the last few inches.
There are certainly many products out there that could do it including IR detection and DCC occupancy detection (if there was a gap in the last few inches of track.)
Container Crane
Hi Everyone,
Since containers on railroad is a big thing in the modern era, I came across this video from Heljan. I think this is awesome ! One operator can do this full-time on a layout:

New layout.
Just wanted to share a few early pic's of a small section of my new HO layout. This hopefully will end up as the water front section but I still have a long way to go. The final layout size will be 14'x28'. Hope you enjoy the pic's.
In-ko-pah RR: Another brick building
I'm finally been able to squeeze in a little modeling recently. My brick hardware store building turned out so well that I decided to do another brick building alongside it. I won't go into as much detail on this build, since it is similar to the previous one. You can see the step-by-step on my first brick building here: http://www.raydunakin.com/Site/IRR_Mineral_Ridge_2.html
