Critique of yard track plan

I posted this in my blog, but haven't received any comments there and I'd like some feedback (affirmative or critical) of my revised yard track plan since I'll start laying track there very shortly. The track plan for the yard is attached as both an image for quick viewing (or here), as well as in XtrkCad format if that's easier.

Help with track plan

Hello All,

This is my first attempt at layout design.  I want to model a portion of the Newark and New York division of the CNJ in HO scale.  In my design I am concentrating on the area where I grew up, Jersey City.  My design elements incorporate the following:

My "first love" with layouts

Someone on another forum was asking about a small shelf layout he remembered from an old article.

It reminded me of one of my all time favorite small shelf layouts in Linn Westcott's classic "101 Track Plans for Model Railroaders"- the Port Ogden and Northern RR layout. When I bought Linn's book way back when it cost $2 bucks. Now it's about $16- shows you how old I am.

Esquimalt & Marshall Hill: yard design revised

Based on feedback from LKandO, and my own dissatisfaction with the original design (especially the proximity of the yard throat to the mountain at the bottom-right), I've completely reworked the arrangement of the yard. Compare to plan in previous blog post. Key changes:

My n scale layout design, tear it apart, please

 Well,

here is the current plan for my n scale layout based on the Siskiyou line in N scale cira 1990

the room messures a little over 9'x11' plus a closet (the top, mushroom looking thingy)    Door to the room swings in and is located to the left of  Rice Hill.

you maybe confused at first but let me explain the design.   This is  the lower deck of a double deck layout.

Esquimalt & Marshall Hill: track plan

Here is the track plan of the HO-scale layout I'm starting to build. I'm calling it the Esquimalt & Marshall Hill. Prototype is purely freelanced, but based on the geographic concept of linking Vancouver Island to the British Columbia interior (and beyond).

Developing Penn Lake's Locomotive Roster (pictures repaired)

At first my Penn Lake Railway, didn't have locomotives of it's own, using it's parents' power.   At the time, I didn't want to piece the lettering together from alphabet sets, or go throught the cost of custom decals.   Then, I stumbled onto Champ's (moment of silence please ) private name sets, which allowed me to easily create Penn Lake lettering.

Meet the Penn Lake Railway

My Penn Lake Railway is a protolanced anthracite shortline, co-owned by the Reading and Delaware & Hudson, just before the formation of Conrail.

HELP! Single mainline vs Double mainline

I'm planning a HO layout in a fairly large space 18' x 35'.   There is some bonus space adjacent to the room that can be used for helices.  The prototype is the Milwaukee Road in the transition era and the location is rural Wisconsin just west of Milwaukee.  Doing my research, I see that the track was double track at the time (it is single track now CN and sees at least one train an hour).  My plan is to have staging above the layout and have two decks that go around three walls of the room with two towns per deck.
