using telephone wiring. yes or no?

Anyone using telephone wiring for thier layout for dc & ac? Having 4 colored wires in a single jacket makes sense, but does it work ok? Dc voltage is 14 volts correct? And ac voltage is 19? Would telephone wiring work ok? my shelf layout will be modular. Or should I stick with 20 gauge seperate wiring instead? what gauge is telephone? 24?
looking for suggestions before I build it.
Thanks.

PROGRESS ON MY PEAVINE SUB

to all

this is a short video on the progress i made this weekend....the PEAVINE is underway. now it's over to Lowes to pick up some material for the sub roadbed & back drop. i had a slight advantage because i recycled my previous frame work. all the work was done by me solo..the only help i had was 5 clamps. i don't think my hand appreciated all the work because it hurts like hell. until next time....bnsf6951 out

I probably shouldn't ask this, but........

.....Here I was, enjoying my morning coffee and catching up with Jim Six's latest post about "too much", and I had to go do this thing called "work" half way thru reading....I come back not 30 minutes later and POOF! it's gone, and not just that thread, but all his threads!

Please, PLEASE don't tell me that what WAS on the first page or two a VERY civil discussion, got out of hand by page three, and was taken down, or God forbid, Jim said "the Heck with this abuse" and took his toys and left MRH for good.

Construction of the Second Spline Helix - Part 2

I am in the process of finishing the fourth of five levels on the second spline helix.  It takes me about a week to add the section, install the cork roadbed and track and do the soldering required for the feeders as well as soldering the track sections.  This could probably be done faster if I was in a hurry or if I did not have chores around the house.
