Home made flowers
In another post of mine "Got Pot?" http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/8123 I showed how to make flower pots from "findings" and Noch "flowering plants". One poster asked about cheaper alternatives to the Noch product. Below is a flower pot with flowers made from a wooden bead where the flowers are "sticks" from SuperTrees(tm) and the flowers peddles are Woodland Scenics "Flowers". I dabbed the sticks in white glue and then in the WS flowers. The flower pot sits just outside Midge's Corner Cafe in dow
Pets on Layout Tours, an ongoing discussion on another site.
There is a discussion going on the Yahoo Discussion Group for Model Railroads of Southern California. This month there have been many layout tours being held which are posted on the group. It seems a woman brought a dog to the layout tour without asking the homeowner first. She claims it is a service dog. What happened was that the leash on the dog got caught on the layout and did some damage. I have posted a clip here which includes a response from the woman involved. To me she has an attitude in her response. She seems to feel entitled to show

Visits to Tom Wilson's Pittsburg & West Virginia RR including ops!
Not only did I get to visit Michael Rose and his awesome layout while in Florida I also got to make two visits to Tom's wonderful layout! My first visit was a private tour to let me enjoy the experience and get the "lay of the land". He also took me over to his friend John's house to see his great coal hauling layout. My second visit to Tom's I arrived early to get pictures and then got to operate on the railroad. Tom is a great host, ops guy, and a skilled artist. I made a little video about the experience shown below. Thanks, To

My visit to Michael Rose's Georgetown & Allen Mountain RR
While I was in Florida recently Michael Rose was nice enough to allow me to tour his excellent railroad, the Georgetown & Allen Mountain Railroad. As wonderful as his railroad is I must say that my favorite part was listening to Michael talk about his long years in the hobby and his outlook on modeling. Thank you, Michael!
I made little video of the tour:

MP3 Player
I've been working on getting equipment and software together for creating background sounds for a diorama that I want to build. I've down loaded the program"Audacity" for capturing sound bits. I've played around with this program for a while now and believe I've got it figured out pretty good. I also ordered and received 10 MP3 Players today. I wanted to load some sounds on to the MP3 but was not successful.

User rating system -or- My thread has 500 reads and no replies!
Every now and then someone shares their work and is surprised (and perhaps disappointed) to see that there have been numerous people reading but nobody replying. I know, I've been there. I'm also guilty of not posting, even on a thread which I thoroughly enjoyed reading. Sometimes, it just seems pointless or generic to post something like "great job," and you wish you could come up with something a little more personal and creative. Especially when someone before you has just said the same thing.
