Signaling Car Set-Outs for Railroad Customers
A question for all:
Were there any practices used on any railroad for notifying customers when a car was set out (dropped off) on a customer siding. particularly if the siding was on a blind side of a building?
Was there a courtesy whistle or horn signal? I know of no such signal listed in operating rules that I've read, but was any signal given anyway? Did a brakeman or conductor knock on a door, for example?
Thanks ahead.

Do all decoders work with any DCC system?
Just doing some research before jumping into my very large layout planning. Do all brands of DCC decoders work with any/all DCC systems or do you have to have the same manufacturer for both? Thanks for your help.

Weekend (and Monday) Photo Fun 8/30 - 9/2/13
Didn't see anything yet so I thought that I'd kick this off. Since I don't have a layout at present I've included a picture of some of my railroad room decorations. In this case it's the "L&N" letters (from Hobby Lobby) which will later be mounted high up on my wall. The HO loco is to show the relative size.

1st Loco on Richlawn Railroad V2!
So how crazy do you have to be to stick a piece of track and a loco on top of an unfinished bench top just so you can hear the prime mover rumble and run it back & forth for the three feet? As crazy as me! It's sitting there rumbling while I'm posting this and it just gets my juices going!

Really Enjoying the New Podcast Format
I'm listening to the latest Podcast episode and I've gotta say that I'm really enjoying the new format. I especially enjoy Jim's real railroading stories. It's something that I don't get to hear very often and I learn a lot from every story he tells!
Thanks again and keep up the good work!

Tracks down the middle of the street
Anyone ever experimented with putting tracks down the middle of the street? I'm not talking about streetcar or trolley. I'm talking about an industrial area with warehouses on one or both sides. Running freight trains down the street. If so please share your experience, your ideas and most of all your pictures!
Whats happening with Atlas?
Perhaps a year ago I read several forum discussions about Atlas changing its distribution network or some such thing an supplies were going to be limited. Here it is a year later and still my LHS can not get any items from Atlas. Does anyone know what is or has been going on with them?
