N scale passenger themed layout for a small space?

Hi Everyone-

First post here,  been reading and dreaming for a while and decided to take the plunge to start nailing/ gluing down some track for a real permanent layout. I've been looking thru some of the discussions and found some really neat ideas- but was wondering if there are any Passenger line specific layouts that anyone could recommend? I am collecting modern Amtrak and Chicago Metra system equipment. Since i live in the area and see allot of that whiz by.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Bachmann shay with tsunami sound

Help, I have a bachmann shay with a tsunami sound decoder. When I place it on the tracks it sounds good but when throttle is applied it sputters. When placed on test wheels it runs without the sputters. Any help is appreciated.

Merry Christmas to all.

Shelf Layout Turnout Options?

I've been working on a new shelf expansion on my layout.  This section is 59" from the floor and the track is no more than 16" deep.  There are two main lines running through the middle and they will be on cork 3/16" thick.  The yard spurs off to the sides will be on foam 1/16" thick. The roadbed is 1" foam insulation board on 1x4" framing.

Alco S4 Working Bownell

Here is a short video of Maine central 568 shoving some loads into Bownell Furniture & Appliance.  They have to cross Tower Street backing into the loading dock area.

Dear Santa

You're too big to sit on his lap, but you can post a note to tell Santa what you want to find in your stocking on Christmas morning.

HO, HO, HO! (Or maybe N, N, N?)
