Train videos on Amazon Prime

If you're an Amazon Prime member, be sure to periodically look at what's available. I searched for railroads last night and found that a bunch of the Great American Scenic Railroads series was available for "free" to prime members.

Centerville Branch

I finally got a preliminary track plan on paper.  This is closely based on Scott Perry's Heart of Georgia.  I have set this on the L&N Centerville branch, running south (railroad west) from Dickson, TN to Hohenwald, TN.  This means which ever way you are facing is always north.  The date is Summer 1953.  In my world, the L&N takeover of NC&StL occurred in 1952 instead of 1957.

Scenery transition: Your feedback

I am looking for feedback in regards to “scenery” planning of sort.  Considering the need for compression and seamless transition from built-up urban scene to un-built area (such has fields, forest, rivers etc.)  Which of the following would you chose?  For the purpose of arguments let say I have the following choices:

Town A followed by Town B, followed by Town C.   (with short 1 foot transition in between)

SP and WP locomotive headlights

SP had a specific set of lights. Until the mid 80's (I'm guessing), Cab lights were the gyralights, with the actual headlights on the lower short hood with the red emergency light. While WP had the nose lights and cab lights in opposite positions? Why was this? On the WP locomotives, did both gyralights operate like the SP lights or did only one of them operate in a gyrating manner? I've seen SP lighting where both gyralights oscillate. What was the common practice for this lighting?

BNSF caboose

BNSF caboose

A friend, Jack Walsh, formerly of R.I., now living in Arizona recently asked me to paint a BNSF caboose for him. Since

the caboose has gone the way of the buggy whip, I went on line and found a picture of what  is, I assume a display. This

was the basis for my interpretation of the final model. Jack wanted a Rapido model, but after a look in my local hobby

A Model Railroader's Shop

Ever wonder what the other modelers shop looks like? Where those scratch built cars, engines & structures are built. I know I do. So, here's my small basement shop 9' X 16'. This small shop houses the table top machinery, work benches and large area's of horizontal storage that hides my tools that I'm constantly looking for.

I thought I'd start a thread on the model railroad shops since we've had so many nice pictures of layouts and rolling stock. It's a bit of a diversion.

search

Hi is there something wrong with the search engine

Joey Ricard, has a new YouTube video posted.

Joey,

Stumbled upon your new video on YouTube. What did you call that? No shame? I got the message. I had to drive across town, across the Red River into Bossier City to find a copy. That was great!
