MRH Website general discussion
How many cars can a prototype steam engine pull?
My simple question is "How many cars can a steam engine pull?" I know the answer is not simple as there are many variables. I have searched the web, MRH, and I have visited and read Al Krug's web site. Great info, but I am still confused. I am just looking for a general rule of thumb that will get me in the ballpark. For that lets ignore environmental factors like temperature, wind resistance, rain, grease, etc.

Custom static grass applicator
Below are some images of a new static grass applicator my friend, John Klocker, put together. I haven’t seen a design like this before and I think it’s a neat approach. Just thought I would share his design.

That Magic Moment
After the “Destroying the Illusion” thread that got a bit emotive, I have done a lot of thinking about the subject of “visual reality” and come to a (possibly controversial) conclusion.
Anyway, here goes………
There are a lot of candidates out there for “Is it a Model” in the Photo Fun section (blogs as well). I’m not going to mention names for fear of unintentionally missing someone out, but you all achieve great things – Respect.
Live On Line discussions
As i sit here going through the postings a sudden thought hit me.
If you notice on this page on the lower right there is a counter of the number of visitors on line. Is there anyway there could be an live online discussion with a visitor?
Just a thought.

Allagash Railway Volume 2?
It's been about a week, and no one's posted up about Volume 2? Where have all our literary critics gone?
I found the roster info and paint scheme history interesting..The tour of the layout could have used some additional info from what we've seen previously, but that's not a complaint. I could railfan the Allagash all day long.
Looking forward to Volume 3.

Floquil thinner?
What do you guys use for thinner for floquil paints? Disol, if still available, is expensive and I have to order it. Is there something I could find in a hardware/paint store that would work? Mineral sprits sort of works for brush cleaning, but I need something that mixes well so I can thin the paint a bit for weathering. Thanks , Brian

They build things well in Allagash country!
I stumbled across this news article today:
NEW SHARON, Maine (AP) — A century-old Maine bridge deemed in danger of collapsing proved tougher than expected when the state tried to demolish it.
The bridge across the Sandy River in New Sharon was built in 1916 but hasn't been used since the 1990s. The Maine Department of Transportation told New Sharon officials in November that it was in danger of collapsing and that the state would pay to remove it.
Radio Shack closing 1100 stores in 2014.
Don't know if you all saw this today, but it was announced that Radio Shack will close 1100 stores in 2014.

You can search for this in the online news services. This may provide some clearance sales on electronics. Interesting how Radio Shack seems to be following the route of model railroad hobby shops. Radio Shack has always been the electronics hobby shop of our neighborhoods.

The "Attention-Remote Control..." sign
As requested, here again are the copies of the sign shown at the San Jack Train Show in Feb by ArthurHouston. One is with a color background, the other without, so you can print it out onto colored paper. Hope this helps!
