Did anyone else catch the show on Destination America, Saturday night?

Yes, it's reality TV, but they did show a freight train lose air pressure due to a lose connection, and hot wheels caused by rolling down a 3% grade in the Alaskan mountains. We also saw how they keep the ice beside the tracks from derailing trains. There was the Hurricane Turn, which does flag stops to pick up passengers out in the woods.

All in all, I saw quite a few modeling ideas, and that was just the Pilot episode.

Developing a logo for my Richlawn Railroad

Even though my freestyle railroad features a real railroad - the L&N I'm thinking that I'd like to develop a logo for the Richlawn Railroad. Years ago I had a graphic artist as a neighbor and he developed a logo for my burglar alarm company for $$$. Since I'm frugal (a cheapskate) I'm hoping that I can get some free advise / ideas from you creative types. The initials are "RRR" so that could be a starting point. I'm willing to pay for ideas with my eternal gratitude.

There is a industrial switching area at the southern edge of Gilroy, CA just as you cross the UP mainline on US 101 northbound. I'd seen switching taking place before when passing by on 101. Curious, today I decided to take a look at aerial views. I was kind of blown away to discover that the industrial trackage actually forms an Inglenook. It's a large Inglenook covering considerable acreage, but it's an Inglenook nonetheless (schematically anyway) even if it's a bit more convoluted than your standard modeler's Inglenook.

HO Brass Auction - Items require work, do not run

On Friday I received a package containing two brass locomotives. These locomotives were described as models that would not run and that were shorting out when applied power to them. The warmning was very prevalent, it was in the headlng of the posting as well as the body of the posting.

I decided I would buy one or two of the will not run items, I was buying them stickly for parts. The auction was quite large and the two items i bought went for about one third the price of what the locomotives that ran fine were fetching.

I tried searching today on my iPhone, iPad, and iMac. Each search can up with no results. I was using Safari in all three cases. The search was something simple "paint". I also verified that I got no results in IE.
