Getting Started
Long or Short Rolling Stock?
These comments came from an on-line booklet called The Ultimate/Definitive Guide To Model Trains. I found the section on recommended rolling stock length to be confusing.

Basement Preparation is Hard Work!
Last Saturday, I moved our old Coal / Wood Furnace out of the basement. After 3 hours of disassembly, shoving, sliding and lifting, three grown men and a come-along managed to get the firebox and ash bin loaded into a pickup truck. All three of us looked like we did a hard shift in a nearby deep mine. We estimated the firebox section to weight in excess of 400 pounds. The best part, though, is that there is plenty of room to run the layout through this location!
Just getting started and need some pointers
I have a 14 year old son that I need to get going with some new hobbies :) Now, I am not old but certainly no longer in my 30's or 40's and we'll leave it at that :)
I have a large basement with all the room I need: 34 x 32. I was looking at xtrkcad with some of their layout examples but nothing there impressed me. I did find the open railroad map to be interesting especially taking into consideration of some places I have lived and vacationed at.
Thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
New layout idea
Hello,
I'm a model railroader living in Germany and I'd like to start a new layout. All of my previous layouts were German Deutsche Reichsbahn layouts but I've been very interested in american railroading for many years. I have collected many american locos and cars during several years - most of it is used stuff I found on the *bay.
Rail & Joiners
Help is needed. I admit to being stubborn. Also, contrarian. But I'm stumped by a novice problem. PECO code 83.The joiners are too tight, too long, and extremely difficult to use. I have ruined several flex tracks and one turnout because: When trying to connect two pieces of track, the joiners are not helping. All the YouTube videos I see make it look so simple to "just push the joiner on one rail and then push the next rail onto the joiner". It just isn't doing that for me.
Editor driving me nuts rotating images
Joe or moderators, I need your help. I just spent uploaded a bunch of photos into a post. Unfortunately, all of them needed rotating as they came from an iPhone. In most cases, when I rotated them, they would get truncated. If I reloaded them and rotated them, I eventually got them done, but it was a frustrating experience. Here are the steps I took.
Oh no..she said YES.
Hello I'm new here. But been in the hobby for awhile. I've been an HO enthusiast but thinking of becoming a on30 newbieust. So I'm trying to gain some knowledge of the gauge.
I was into HO scale before I met my wife and I mentioned to her that I would like to make a train run through our home.
And she said yes.
So I was thinking of using on30 gauge. The size of o but cheaper ho track.
Your input is much appreciated
HO Kato turnouts
Swapped from Bachman EZ track to the Kato HO. Have WGH layout installed and running DCC Locomotives. After running some trains I looked at the instructions and noticed the section on Powered and Non powered setting for turnouts. After the change to the DCC setting my BLI 6000 won’t run.
Question 1- which setting is correct?
Question 2 - Possible issue with my Loco?
