Fitting one brands shell on another's frame
Here's a topic I haven't seen before (please correct me if I'm wrong), but does anyone out there have experience mating one manufacturer's body shell on another's frame (or the flip side of that, frame to shell)?
N gauge timber wagons?
Hi all,
I'm attempting to model the renewed use of timber trains in the north of Scotland, UK. I'm trying to find an OTA timber wagon (or similar) in N gauge but seriously struggling. Annoyingly Hornby is releasing them in OO gauge, however no luck for N.
Any ideas for kitbashing?

Unloading Gondolas
Folks,
I was reading an article in the October 2020 NMRA magazine about a "sand train" that operates in Louisville, Kentucky. This train is operated by RJ Corman company and delivers gondola loads of sand from the Nugent Sand Company on the Ohio River to its distribution yard in Lexington, Kentucky. Apparently, this "unit train" operates once a day. The gondolas are loaded by a conveyor belt mounted on a moveable boom system.
Painting Brass Locomotive Frames and Running Gear: What to do.
So, I am in the middle of a brass painting odyssey with a Sunset Great Northern O-8 Mikado and a number of other locomotives and things are going fairly well. I did have a few questions for the experts.
Base model for kit bashing KC Terminal 0-6-0 slope tender?
Hello: I am modeling the Kansas City Terminal Railway and am looking to create (ideally kitbash) several of their 0-6-0's, that had slope back tenders, using a commercially available HO scale model as a starting point, if possible. Here are a couple sample photos of one such prototype. Any tips you might have for available approximations of such a sloped tender would be greatly appreciated (including short-run models like brass). Thanks in advance for any comments.
Western Pacific Large Oil Tenders
Anyone know the best way to go about kitbashing or building one of the large 4,000 gallon oil tenders used by the Western Pacific’s last order of 2-8-2 Mikados? Any pointers in either N or HO would be very valuable. Thanks!
Intimidated by Walthers American Crane
Hi,
I found a decent deal on the old Walthers American crane, the one without the rigging assembled. Just curious, how difficult are these to assemble? I've heard some horror stories and sometimes see partially assembled ones on ebay. I'd like to know what I'm getting myself into before I spend about $30.

Tooling on Walthers Bay Window Caboose
Good evening,
Just curious, does anybody know if Walthers has changed the tooling on their bay window caboose from when it was a kit to its now pre-assembled state? I'd like to use these

that were designed for the latest Walthers cabooses but with this kit:

Thanks for your help!

Drivers don't turn on tender driven engine
Looking for some help. I have an N scale steam engine with the engine in the tender powering the tender. The problem is the drivers do not turn like they should as the engine is pushed, but often just slide along the rails.
The model is a Fleischmann 2-10-0 of the Class 50 of the German railways. It has been fitted with a DCC decoder. It runs fine with the exception of the sliding wheels. I've done some minor lubricating of the axles and rods with a light application of oil.
LokSound installed in N scale C44-9w (with demo)
Hi, here is a look at an installation I just finished of a LokSound Select Micro in a custom Kato C44-9W. I used an 8x12mm sugar cube speaker from sbs4dcc. Frame grinding was pretty minimal, just the 'bumps' on the rear of the frames. I didn't install a rear light LED. Overall I am pretty impressed with the sound that comes out of these little beasts.
