Lime - Hopper with Trough Hatch?
Is lime (calcium carbonate) for paper mills (dry, not the slurry) ever shipped in gravity feed hoppers with trough hatches on top, or is it always circular hatches on top?
Dynamic Brakes for Broadway SD9
I have an undecorated Broadway Limited SD9 I picked up at a show some years ago. It's the non-dynamic brake version, and I'm looking for an option to add the dynamic brakes. Broadway doesn't have any parts for sale, does anyone know of a good alternative for the dynamic brake assembly?
Fuel tanks for mechanical reefers
Hello People,
Can you tell me where I might find reefer fuel tanks or has anybody seen some plans to build the same?
Thanx Steve Klein
Looking for ideas on painting AMB Laserkit open top load wood blocking
I have a couple of these kits. They go together quite well, but in the case of the one I'm working on, which is the "Short Length Pipe Blocking and Cradles", I don't like the look of the laser burned surfaces on the cradles and blocking.
G Scale questions
Asking for a friend who wants a modern era G gauge "display". Wondering what is available in modern locomotives and boxcars. There seem to be two manufactures, MTH and USA trains. It appears they are different scales though, 1:29 and 1:32. How obvious is that difference if they are coupled together? Are there more modern locomotives besides MTH SD70Ace and USA's SD70MAC? I'm hoping the winner is the 70MAC in BN's cream and green but I might be biased. Thanks for your insight,
Paul

BLI Wheel Problem(s),...corrosion?
Yesterday I got out of storage the first articulated steam loco I ever bought,...a BLI 2-6-6-4, N&W Class A. Its been in storage for a long time as I experienced some wheel discoloration/corrosion problems with it not long after I got it, .....and I haven't had a layout to operate my locos on for a long time.
The wheel discoloration problems is still there,....and short initial test on a roller track, it appears to affect its electrical pick-up.

Repower an old AHM Century C 628
Why do I do these things ?
Mainly, because I like tinkering and appreciate being able to accomplish something that nobody else apparently has done. I say this because I can find absolutely nothing in an internet search on repowering this loco.
CN Wrecking Crane Build/Bash
Inspired by a photo posted on the Web; I bit the bullet and had a go at trying to produce something close to the original. Being half a world away from taking any field trips to collect first hand knowledge; my engineering background was called upon to help out. The photos tell the story of the result and build progress, with a stock [repainted] Walthers wrecking crane for comparison. The finished crane is powered with a DCC decoder to control the rotating beacon, fibre optic rear red marker lights, forward spot lights and crane drive......
